Responsible for delivering all aspects of the Supplier Performance / Quality Assurance function on an on-going basis in line with the Supplier Performance System and Quality Policy to ensure that the business’ products and services are fit for purpose and meet customer expectations.
Responsible for ensuring that suppliers continue to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste.
Responsible for providing leadership, outstanding people skills and management to a team of Supplier Performance / Quality Engineers.
Contribute to the creation and implementation of the supplier performance department vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
Contribute to new business initiatives and key projects.
Implement continuous improvement within the team to drive out waste and deliver cost reduction
Project Manage the Supply Chain on NPD projects, adhering to Gate process milestones through anticipation of issues and implementation of quality orientated solutions
Monitor Plant supplier’s ongoing quality performance (PPM reject data, etc). Liaison between Plant SCP Team, Supply Chain Performance Engineering, Commodity Team and targeted suppliers to assure any quality issues are permanently corrected Use PPAP process to approve all production assemblies.
Initiate low level PPAP / AQP for each Plant components to compliment the SPE Commodity team’s responsibilities Review supplier PPAP submissions and disposition as appropriate.
Implement the Certified Shipment Program for each Plant’s key supplier base and reorganize Plant Incoming Inspection Dept’s operating procedures to suit
Work with Commodity Managers in selecting potential suppliers
Attend multiple weekly NPD project team meetings, representing Procurement (Global Sourcing) and Supply Chain Performance and provide supplier manufacturability capability
Assist in the review of new product designs for manufacturability
Support new product launch at supplier facility as needed for progress reporting and to assure timely parts delivery
Initiate and run weekly meetings / calls for the follow-up of tasks defined for Commodity Managers and Supply Chain Performance Engineers
Create and implement Cost Awareness Program in Europe by means of product cost analysis and workshops and initiate an awareness on cost with a shared knowledge base within ECT
Identify key NPD projects and Implement Value Engineering and Cost Targeting concepts
Work with Engineering in early phases of design to manage better cost with manufacturability and quality as well as improving lead times for the project
Lead 3P events for NPDs to help with product cost and time-to-market targets
Investigate, identify and develop key suppliers in Europe in line with regionalization targets
Lead competitive assessment activities to do Value Engineering
Create and lead cross functional teams (including key suppliers) dedicated to cost containment activities on critical and high cost components
Identify key NPD and Cost Reduction projects to implement Value Engineering and Cost Targeting concepts
Identify CTC (Critical to Cost) and CTQ (Critical to Quality) elements in our products by means coordinated team work with the cross functional teams of Marketing, Engineering, Product Planning, Procurement, SQE / SPE and Plant Manufacturing Departments during early design phase of NPDs
Analyze and report Value versus Function versus Cost on our existing and new products to help to quantify design and cost targets
Identify design and cost containment programs on existing products which have critical market impact
Investigate for regional sources and lead supplier development programs for critical cost items like crankshafts, pistons and connecting rod components in line with European regionalization
Manage competitive assessment programs as a fundamental practice of Value Engineering and do reverse engineering studies with cost calculations to create cost targets on component level
Utilize Ron Mascitelli methodology and tools to integrate Lean Design approach to NPD process
national and international travel
Manage the Supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Manage customer PPM (Parts per Million), supplier PPM, supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators
Lead quality audits for suppliers
Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management System (TS16949 / ISO9001)
Support regular inspection meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving build quality
Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern product quality
Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices / designs and future trends.
Engineering Degree. Mechanical Engineering as Major preferred. A higher-level qualification is an advantage.
8 years minimum experience in high to medium volume / automotive production environment.
Possess in- depth working knowledge and quality processes, including :

Strong Contracts and Negotiating Skills
Strong Analytical and Good Technical Skills
