Job Description

Microchip is seeking an experience Analog / mixed-signal applications engineer to join our R&D team. The primary role will be development and support of technical content for current and next generation ADCs, DACs, Digital Potentiometers, and Energy Measurement.

In addition, exposure to other technical areas and products within the group is likely.

The applications engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and deploying highly technical collateral (demo boards, reference designs, code examples, training material, etc.

which maximizes client self-sufficiency. As a factory expert in the assigned product lines, the applications engineer will provide direct technical support as needed to internal first-line technical support teams and select external customers.

The successful candidate must be a team player, self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, be able to work in fast paced challenging environments, and work with cross-functional teams across different disciplines, business units, and sites.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of experience in mixed-signal development / support (e.
  • g., Applications and / or System Design)

  • 3+ years of experience with embedded systems is preferred
  • Total experience required is 10+ years of experience
  • Lab validation / analysis skills to reproduce customer issues (root cause analysis)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and organize activities that span multiple disciplines
  • Can solve ambiguity in a methodical and precise manner
  • A highly effective collaborator who is able to work across different organizations within the company
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and presentation skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to assume responsibility and be proactive in taking initiative to address issues to meet commitments
  • Microcontroller / Processor implementation know how
  • System Engineering Tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, Altium Designer, etc.) preferred
  • Hardware development and layout experience strongly preferred (Altium Designer experience a plus)
