Within General Motors Global Propulsion Systems Engineering (GPS), the area Global Diesel Calibration & DCV Europe is developing the calibrations for a broad range of our gasoline and diesel engines and automatic transmissions.
Applications of our propulsion systems are globally led from here to then drive Opels, Chevrolets, Buicks, Cadillacs and further brands on our markets all around the world.
Beside working areas like system validation, powertrain evaluation and further important cross-sectional tasks, the department Validation, Evaluation & Fleet Management cares as well for planning and coordination of the entire European propulsion system development fleet
Efficient and effective planning, coordination, provision and care for about 1.000 propulsion system development vehicles is an important factor for our projects success.

What you can expect
The PT Vehicle HW Planning Team is responsible for tasks such as :
Determine vehicle needs amount and specifications in co-operation with the development areas - Vehicle ordering and provision planning
Lead user meetings to yield synergies and minimize vehicle costs through optimized usage plans
Develop best possible solutions with the stakeholders, e.g. in case of program content or timing adjustments
Keep usage planning updated
Schedule and coordinate required rebuilds and Upgrades
Monitor and improve vehicle usability
Conduct administrative tasks for example regarding vehicle usage on test trips or at development Partners
Communicate and foster of vehicle usage guidelines
As the Lead Engineer for this area you will functionally lead this Team
Coordinate and issue resolution in daily Business
Improve work processes, co-operations and strategies, for example regarding vehicle usage efficiency and improved usability along with optimized fleet size
Cooperate on a broad range of levels as well with local business areas, with global forums and international GM development centers
Define tasks and processes for external partners as well as their coordination around development fleet management
Have oversight of our development fleet, recognize trends and anticipate up-coming challenges
Provide the development teams with fully usable development vehicles at the right point in time
What we expect
Academic background (B.S. / M.S. / Dipl-Ing.) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering business administration or comparable educational background
Solid knowledge of automotive technology and vehicle subsystems
Proven skills to solve complex technical and organizational problems both with structured and pragmatic approaches
Ability to communicate and network on various organizational levels
Self-starter, self-motivating with strong customer focus and a sense of responsibility
Knowledge of structure and development processes of GM vehicles and propulsion systems from previous assignments
Good language proficiency in English and German (orally and written)
