Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Ensure the programme and associated business case are scoped, initiated and approved
  • according to required procedures

  • Plan the programme in a manner that delivers the component project outputs as and when needed to support the intended value of the business case
  • Ensure the project managers execute and implement according to the plan or any agreed changes to the plan, and according to agreed programme management standards
  • Ensure relevant and appropriate analysis gets performed, shaped in appropriate management information and presented to the relevant governance bodies and steering board
  • Ensure that programme relevant risks, issues, actions, costs, schedules, benefits and other related artefacts are documented and tracked
  • Ensure an appropriate programme steering group is in place and report into that group on a regular basis with risk and dependency status, and recommendations on any required decisions
  • Ensure that the programme work is compliant with documented standards, templates, and frameworks, and captured in agreed toolsets
  • Engage on a regular basis with the sponsor and stakeholders and ensure broad awareness, engagement, and communication
  • Provide recommended decisions and / or mitigation strategies for identified issues and risks
  • Dynamically ensure appropriate contingencies are available for risks likely to be realised
  • Have a broad awareness of dependencies that could impact value realisation, and engage with relevant counterparts to ensure dependencies don’t jeopardize committed business benefits
  • Analyse, identify, and appraise risks and issues that impact the realisation of the committed business case and either resolve them or propose a mitigation as appropriate
  • Propose to stop the programme when it becomes clear that the intended benefits will not be realised
  • Manage project managers consistent with our management principles
  • Lead (cross-) divisional peer reviews and drive adoption of best practices
  • Ensure the programme closes according to required procedures
  • Ensure compliance of programmes and projects to the Programme Governance Framework
  • People Management

  • Creates an environment where people management and development is the number one priority. Empowers, manages, coaches and mentors direct reports and others in the organisation
  • Actively communicates and cascades the GTO strategy, plans and values at all levels in the organisation driving a high performance culture, enabling effective navigation of the organisation, and supporting efficient decision making
  • Drives the achievement of high performance through effective career management of direct reports, providing equitable opportunities, supporting succession planning and talent management processes to ensure continuous development of people capability & delivery of results
  • Acts as a management role model, communicating SMART business driven objectives at the beginning of the year, ensuring every team member has regular, continuous and constructive performance reviews, encouraging career development, nurturing talent and fostering diversity
  • Promote pro-active escalation culture
  • Proactively manages tough people decisions to ensure people performance is aligned with organisation imperatives and needs.
  • Addresses individual performance issues, where necessary, to drive for high performance

  • Contribute to Programme team / Project Managers target setting and performance reviews
  • Experience / Exposure

  • Demonstrable experience in leading complex transformation programmes to successful
  • conclusions

  • Experience in a leadership / management role with material P&L accountability
  • Experience in developing and tracking complex financial business cases
  • Experience in negotiating commercially valuable outcomes
  • Relevant experience working in the Financial Services industry
  • Proven experience in mentoring and coaching teams
  • Proven ability to effectively assess and mitigate program risks and dependencies
  • Experienced in effectively communicating with and positively influencing diverse stakeholders and team members
  • Appropriate domain expertise
  • Education / Certification

  • Undergraduate Degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent diploma / work experience)
