SUMMARY OF ROLE

To ensure compliance with the company’s policies on contracts and to assist internal customers to handle legal and commercial risks arising from various commercial agreements

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiate technical terms and conditions / contracts and other legal documents with external customers
  • Draft and amend terms and conditions and support internal customers in preparing tender documentation and other commercial documentation
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to internal customers on a range of legal and contract-related issues arising from various commercial agreements (e.
  • g. purchase orders, sales contracts, subcontracts, sophisticated technical projects, confidentiality agreements, licensing agreements, representative and distributor agreements etc)

  • Provide training on the company’s legal and contracting policies to internal staff
  • Ensure the company’s contracting policies are adhered to by internal staff
  • Assist the MEA Legal Department with the development and implementation of corporate policies, precedents, contract audits and any other processes and methodologies sought at improving the efficient functioning of the MEA Legal Department

  • Developing, implementing and assisting with MEA Legal Department procedural and administrative processes requirements
  • Education / Experience

  • Legally qualified with 1-3 years PQE from a reputable university
  • Commercial / contract law experience acquired from a (preferably international) law firm or in-house experience form a multinational company
  • Good French skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent oral presentation and negotiation skills!
  • GCC and / or Africa experience (preferred but not crucial)
  • A practical, upbeat person with the ability to work autonomously when required and to take additional responsibilities as they arise!
  • Work with customers under time pressure
  • Willingness to travel as the job requires from time to time, sometimes at short notice.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with people of various ethnic and hierarchical backgrounds.
  • Training Requirements

  • Continuing legal education / training courses in areas of law relevant to the position of contracts manager.
  • Other training will be provided to the successful candidate, informally through on-the-job training and formally through face-to-face or online training sessions such as ethics, commercial awareness, trade compliance and checkpoint training.
