Preferred Qualifications

The primary role of this position is to help manage, grow and innovate the Oracle Communications Session Border Controller product line, including cloud capabilities and deployment models, and VoLTE / VoWifi capabilities.

The PLM will build products from existing ideas, and help develop new ideas based on industry experience and interactions with field sales, customers / prospects and partners.

The PLM must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, and should be capable of establishing and aligning to big-

picture vision while building an actionable plan to do so.

Written and verbal communications skills are required to work across with all areas of the company... including marketing, services, engineering, alliances, and operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Help manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities. Coordinate (with the help of a program manager) a company-

wide product team that spans several departments.

40% Market : Identifying, interpreting and defining the needs of the market

  • Analyze market data and spend time in the field to influence product tactics and strategies
  • Uncover and / or validate customer pain points to define product requirements
  • Build the plan of action to deliver a product against these needs, while building consensus and collaborating with key stakeholders (e.
  • g. sales, engineering, marketing, services, etc)

  • Work closely with a product marketing counterpart to articulate how product works and interacts with other products in the portfolio including clear value propositions and differentiators
  • Present product capabilities and roadmaps to customers in executive briefings
  • 30% Engineering Interaction : Guiding engineering efforts by defining and prioritizing market requirements

  • Prioritize the roadmap to deliver against market and business needs while maximizing returns on engineering investment
  • Interpret the level of effort involved to create / maintain / end a product
  • Understand the CGBU and broader Oracle technology stack in order to extract value across portfolio
  • Translate technological differentiators into meaningful product / solution value propositions
  • Work closely with an engineering to define, document, and track product release requirements and delivery dates
  • 30% Business & Economics : Maximizing business value of the portfolio

  • Perform due diligence on customer, partner and field-initiated requirements
  • Ensure profitability and economic viability of product
  • Maintain a portfolio view to capitalize on cross-product (or solution) opportunities
  • Track revenue and pipeline to measure success
  • Work closely with market insights counterpart to assess new opportunities and financial impact
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • Solid working understanding of session border controller, SIP, IMS, Diameter protocol, IP telephony, and IP networking in general
  • Exprience should include NFV, orchestration, and coud based technologies
  • Familiarity with service providers networks, 3GPP and other international standards a plus
  • High level of comfort when speaking or presenting to customers, partners and analysts
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or related work experience desired, Masters preferred
  • Detailed Description and Job Requirements

    Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution.

    Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project / product on schedule and within budget.

    As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications.

    Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools.

    Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

    Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical / business skills in area of specialization.

    Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

    7 years of software engineering or related experience.
