Position Description :
Level 3 Engineer will support major worldwide customers to provide in-depthexpertise on the following products :
Lenovo 1410 Linux Clusters & Scalable Infrastructure
GSS / DSS Solutions
Low latency network (adapters and switches from Intel, Mellanox)
Must be able to perform technical L1, L2 and L3 troubleshooting to determineroot cause of software or hardware issues. Must have knowledge in Clusters;
interact with SAN switches, configuring ports setting. Understanding of DHCP,DNS, TFTP, FTP and other related protocols, Raid controllers and Infinibandswitches.
Key Responsibilities :
Use lab hardware to replicate customer configuration in order to replicatecustomer failure mechanisms.
Read and interpret hardware error logs (server management modules logs -UEFI / IMM), OS logs (RHEL / SLES Linux) and GPFS logs to isolate customerproblems.
Use specialized debug equipment like scopes and analyzers to isolate complexclient problems.
Interface with client teams and customers to explain technical solutions andmaintain customer satisfaction.
For critical cases or client outages, position require ability to projectmanage, triage the issue and work with multiple teams involved to urgentlyrestore client outages.
Participate on pre-product activities, taking technical positions fordefects and HW design changes.
Position Requirements :
General PE Responsibilities :
Support Engineer responsibilities include providing technical expertise tothe field on problem determination / isolation and providing action plans toresolve client issues.
Can perform analysis and provides recommendations on problems. Collaboratewith other departments to lead those recommendations.
Contributes on process improvements.
Track field defects and work with Lenovo development and Product Assuranceteams to drive fixes into periodic lifecycle maintenance releases.
Is expected to manage pervasive field issues and provide field communicationon fix releases.
Product support offered by the engineer begins at pre-product introductionand continues through the product end of life.
Review and assist development on all product documentation.
Maintain key data for products assigned (specifications, publications,technical tips, defects, engineering changes and history, product roadmaps,lifecycle features and functions on release cadences).
Provide on-site assistance to resolve critical client technical issues (whenrequired).
Works as on-call engineer to support worldwide customers (by rotation withother team members)
The candidate should have experience / knowledge in the following areas :
File system operation / maintenance and troubleshooting (knowledge of GPFS isa major plus; knowledge of any other file system is a plus)
Operating Systems configuration / troubleshooting / kernel debugging Linux(RHEL / SLES)
Storage and x86 server knowledge (either development work or installation)
Networking (Infiniband / Omni-Path and Ethernet would be a plus)
Bachelor Degree / College Diploma
At least 1 years experience in Knowledge of data center management andnetworking (Infiniband / Omni-Path / SAN / Ethernet).
At least 2 years’ experience in storage and server troubleshooting / problemanalysis skill (GPFS knowledge is a plus).
