For one of our clients, one of the market leaders in the implementation of telecom infrastructures and one of the most experienced network developers with a history which starts back in the late 40’s, we are looking for a Managed Services Department Manager.

Description of the job : The MS Manager reports to the CTO and is responsible for leading the MS Department and winning new business in line with company long-term corporate strategy.

She / he will collaborate with Regional Directors to identify, generate and qualify new opportunities for business and develop a first contact with the customers, with technical experts, project managers and potential partners.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide senior level business development support in the identification of new business opportunities, bid management, and technical inputs;
  • Promote the services and capabilities to existing and prospective clients, potential partners and prospective key personnel;
  • Engage with Customer (including at senior level, typically CTO) to understand current mode of operations, constrains, technologies, and plans related to network evolution (deployment, construction and operation);
  • Work closely with technical experts and project managers to ensure that corporate best practices are utilized towards meeting the needs of the client;
  • Manage directly the support group team of engineers;
  • Ensure the delivery strategy and directive alignment to build a strong and sustainable MS operation;
  • Define and recommend the winning architectures and solutions to transform customer’s network operations, processes, systems and organizations in the frame of Managed Services / outsourcing contracts;
  • Ensures cross-domains solution feasibility from technical, business value migration, integration, operation and maintenance perspective;
  • Ensures that the solution meets the market and customer’s implicit, explicit and dynamic requirements & that scope adjustments are subject to carefully considered change control procedures;
  • Identifies opportunities for up-scopes.
  • Define and develop associated resource plans and costing models;
  • Participates as an expert during the tender process to support the build and write of proposals;
  • Identifies problems and risks early; explicitly highlights obstacles and proposes actions to address them;
  • Lead and coordinate Due Diligence activities;
  • Required skills & Expertise :

  • Proven multi-year activity in the telecommunication industry with experience in selling telecommunication-based solutions and in managing customer projects;
  • 10+ years practical experience in the telecom industry;
  • Familiarity with O&M of Telecom operators or MS operations of telecom vendors; wireless network O & M processes preferred;
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas : NOC, field maintenance, network performance management, OSS / IT;
  • Proven business development manager who is used to working with targets;
  • Understanding of the end-to-end mobile / fixed service providers market, its opportunities and challenges;
  • The ability to understand complex technical solutions and their true business value;
  • Strong business modelling skills and the ability to build solid business cases;
  • Excellent presentation, listening and consulting skills; ability to deliver clear and precise presentations to customers;
  • Able to quickly prioritise jobs under pressure, and able to anticipate the changing needs of customers and clients;
  • Good strategic long-term focus;
  • Excellent team leader, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Key Attributes :

  • Experienced in dealing with the complexities of large organizations and with the different cultures in a multi-national group;
  • Very strong influencing skills paired with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Analytic in understanding background behind (customer) requirements and able to formulate appropriate solution or remedy;
  • Flexible with high level of innovation;
  • Open communication and pro-active networking (internally / externally);
  • Team-player to align with various stakeholders of the (pre-) sales process.
  • Environment :

  • Excellent spoken and written English / French.
  • Travel required.
