You will be part of our Global Mobility team acting as an internal advisor and subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and business partners covering all aspects of global mobility.
You will have a clear focus on the complex web of international individual income and employment tax laws but you will also support your colleague on the full cycle of the Mobility (including issuing assignment documentation, coordinating on immigration matters).
The role will be based in Bucharest.
Partner cross-functionally to educate stakeholders and employees on the mobility and employment tax impacts of temporary or permanent employee relocations.
You will have a particular focus in EMEA;
Analyze business travels and raise the immigration / social security / tax risks to the related stakeholders;
Coordinate and guide finance and payroll teams regarding the complex operational impacts of compensation reporting and taxation for mobile employees (hypothetical tax withholding, tax equalisation calculation);
Maintain close working relationships with our global stock team, helping to manage the complex web of tax compliance matters for mobile employees who hold stock options;
Manage, guide, and assist our external mobility tax services provider;
Work with recruiters, HR business partners, Tax, as well as the Talent Mobility team as we continuously review and design our approach to all areas of employee mobility;
Manage all active phases of the assignment (e.g. pre-assignment, on-assignment, repatriation and post-assignment). Be proactive with assignees, maintaining frequent communication to ensure their assignment is progressing as planned and to resolve issues;
Respond to queries within a tiered support model related to tax, immigration, and relocation raised by our employees, partner with the Global Mobility program owners (relocation, tax and immigration SMEs) to escalate and resolve cases;
Skills and Experience
Relevant knowledge and experience of international mobility policies. You are very comfortable working in areas of ambiguity and demonstrate excellent judgement in a fast-paced environment;
Awareness of Tax and Immigration legislation, as well as relevant employment law and other business or economic forces;
Demonstrate the ability to apply the relevant (assignment policies, expatriate cost, etc.) principles to business needs;
Ability to think through end-to-end solutions to improve the processes and plan around systematic blind spots through the mobility lifecycle;
Ability to work effectively with data, analyze and present insights, develop and deliver presentations of key results. You can analyze and understand complex technical rules, while being able to translate these into practical guidance that is clear and concise to a non-tax person.
You have a deep understanding of cross-border tax considerations, including tax residency concepts / impacts, Tax Equalization for assignments, complexities around different types of compensation e.
g. stock options, relocation benefits etc.
You are able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
