The Internal Communications Specialist reports directly to the Director, Internal Communications.
What you’ll do on a typical day
As a member of our evolving Internal Communications team, the Specialist will lead and / or assist in multiple Internal Communications initiatives, with a focus on using internal programming and channels to engage our associates.
Contributes to the overall Communication plan and strategy for the company. This includes improving processes, optimizing communications platforms and driving new ways to tell a story as part of an integrated communications campaign to align with business strategy and improve year-over-year communications efforts.
Serves as communications lead for all aspects of the Avantor Weekly by coordinating the content calendar, authoring articles, managing the review process, and posting / distributing the content.
Serves as a reporter by : proactively mining for story leads, conducting interviews with subject matter experts and crafting compelling stories that inform, engage and inspire our readers.
Implements best practices in communications, develops metrics to track the effectiveness of these efforts and measures overall corporate communications performance.
Supports ongoing management of Avantor Connect and the Manager Portal to ensure associates have the most up to date information available.
Creates new content for communication vehicles and activities such as newsletters, announcements, presentations, video scripts, intranet and other corporate materials.
Ensure internal communications are distributed appropriately via all vehicles, including e-mail, Intranet and print
Manage translation process for global communications and content being distributed by the Internal Communications team.
Serve as content and operations manager for the Avantor Intranet site.
Drive KPIs / metrics to ensure program performance and constant improvement
Support bowler evolution and functional reporting
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training, Experience and Certifications)
BA / BS or equivalent experience
English professional C1
3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, digital communications or public relations with a bias to the global industrial manufacturing industry
Experience in managing a corporate intranet
Experience using various functional tools such as Word, SharePoint, Stream
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Strong writing & editing (AP style) skills for quality control
Excellent organization and project management skills with emphasis on planning, follow-up and execution of communication strategies across corporate functions.
Flexible with problem solving and analytical skills
Committed to constant improvement and best practice
Enthusiasm for implementing new communications technologies and strategies
Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
