Lead Learning Specialist

As a member of the Talent Centre of Excellence and the Learning team, the Lead Learning Specialist will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of learning and development activities across Garrett’s global population.

This role will work closely with the Learning team and wider HR colleagues to ensure effective delivery of existing initiatives and programs as well owning the design and development of new projects.

This position reports directly to Garrett’s Global Learning Leader and will partner with peers and stakeholders across the world.


Corporate Learning (50%)

  • Support STRAP objectives
  • o Work with Learning Team, HR and Business stakeholders to define, create and implement the best programs that support STRAP objectives

    o Implement new strategic learning projects within budget and deadline

    o Work with Talent CoE peers to link Learning with other Talent Management & Talent Acquisition processes (e.g. onboarding, learning linked to competencies, career paths etc.)

  • Develop and enhance customer centric global learning programs
  • o Assess success of existing L&D programs and support business teams in maximizing value from them

    o Propose and manage the yearly global learning curricula and liaise with Functional HRBPs to identify and address business priorities

    o Own planning and logistics for corporate learning programs

    o Continuously look for alternatives to improve learning offerings from 3rd party providers

    o Monitor budget and continuously look for cost improvement

    o Participate in vendor negotiations and ensure that all internal processes are followed in relation to vendor and invoice management

    o Organize ILTs for business functions when requested

    o Act as a learning advisor for - and support the business functions for the creation of e-learnings, using various tools, in accordance to the Oracle HCM specifications

  • Improve digital learning adoption and learner engagement
  • o Pivot learning offerings towards digital learning; research and stay up to date with trends to propose new methods and platforms to support digital learning

    o Pivot online learning towards Just in Time learning and decrease the time between need identification and launch of solutions

    o Improve Learning branding and lead user engagement projects

    o Prepare monthly learning governance reports (NPS, average rating) and propose action plans; communicate with content creators to implement learning governance decisions

    o Participate in the Learning Management System (LMS) working group to enhance and improve the system’s user experience and functionality

    Engineering Organization (50%)

  • Act as a Learning Partner for the Engineering organization; perform gap analysis to identify learning needs, establish yearly curricula, propose and carry out L&D programs
  • Own TurboU Academy and any L&D programs aiming to support the functional and skill development of the Engineering organization
  • Support Engineering Leadership team and HR dedicated partner to develop and implement any specific Management and Leadership programs
  • Maintain close relationships with both internal module owners and external providers
  • Keep track of expenditures and ensure they are within the allocated budget
  • Together with the Engineering Directors and Engineering HRBP establish priorities for content development / buy / borrow
  • Work with module owners and Leaning Planner to establish the yearly calendar of technical offerings (ILT / VILT)
  • Work with Learning Planner to ensure all offerings are updated on the LMS
  • Prepare and send the monthly Engineering newsletter
  • Ensure TurboU offerings are within the learning standard (Learning Governance Process)
  • Maintain TurboU Training Sharepoint


  • 5 years experience in L&D
  • Minimum 2 years of successful coordination of L&D large-scale projects that have :
  • 1. Impacted minimum 500 population

    2. Required virtual coordination and implementation

    3. Required influencing skills (both stakeholders and peers)

  • Track record of supporting change initiatives
  • Experience in deep dives based on data and gap analysis followed by proposal of the right programs to address the identified needs
  • Experience in delivering trainings or workshops to a diverse population (across functions and geographies), both in person and virtual
  • Instructional Design knowledge if not directly, then indirectly
  • Excel and PowerPoint medium to advanced level
  • Fluent English language (speaking and writing)
  • Knowledge of Oracle ideal; if not, previous experience with other Learning systems
  • Human Skills

  • Rounded L&D professional, up to date with current trends and excited with how the L&D future looks like
