The Core Concepts team is part of the broader Core Engineering team and within the Platform Engineering organization. We own various core concepts and services that are not tightly coupled with service platforms, yet still vital to the product teams who depend upon our services to create the products directly used by clinicians.

Some examples of our ownership include, the services for producing faxes and print jobs, configuration of application preferences, and management of date / time APIs utilized throughout Millennium.

Our team ownership is defined as :

  • Fundamental, broadly used concepts of the system.
  • Non-clinical in nature.
  • Not fundamental to the platform itself.
  • Millennium based.
  • You will be responsible for leading an agile team of engineers to deliver high quality, sustainable, and scalable services within the broader Core Concepts product offerings.

    You will be required to collaborate daily with the Kansas City based agile team lead and the product owners in Kansas City to ensure the right products are created and delivered in a timely manner.

    Expectations include both managing a team of engineers, along with providing the architectural guidance and strategic decision making to create innovative solutions to solving software problems encountered by the team.

    Primary responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to :

  • Collaborate with product owners and team leads within Kansas City to lead an agile team of engineers in delivering product goals.
  • Provide high-level architectural guidance and develop specifications to resolve software problems and create strategic technical designs for projects within team.
  • Estimate effort for current and future projects.
  • Analyze, design, code, debug, test and modify new software and / or enhancements while considering software abilities.
  • Identify the right talent to achieve the desired results. Promote and build a diverse cohesive team to accomplish objectives and align associates' skills to fill gaps.
  • Seek to understand team disagreements, ensure all perspectives are heard and facilitate a plan for resolution.
  • Delegate the work appropriately, provide clear expectations and follow up to ensure progress and overcome roadblocks. Identify associates and team priorities based on business direction and adjust when needed.
  • Provide timely feedback to encourage success, ensure accountability, and connect opportunities for your associates’ development.
  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field, or 4 years relevant work experience :
  • Plus 5 years’ experience / higher education, including : At least 3 years Software engineering work experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • At least 1 year in management experience.
  • Proficient in C++.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Expectations :

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations;
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position;
