In this role, the Supplier Quality Engineer coordinates the sourcing projects from technical and Quality Assurance perspective.
He / she supports the supplier’s improvement needs in collaboration with Procurement, Engineering and Production Departments.
From this role, they collaborate with practically all other departments of the company.
Also, he / she contributes from Quality Assurance perspective to the implementation of continuous improvement actions for strategic suppliers.
Coordinates the strategic suppliers quality performances improvement projects :
Ensures the purchased product’s quality through the continuous monitoring and improvement of suppliers performances by using the general QA principles (FMEA, MSA / Gage R&R, Control Plans, Capability Analysis, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping, etc)
Conducts the technical review meetings with suppliers as defined through technical and QA requirements established for each new item to be sourced
Prepares, provides, analyzes and processes the First Article Approval (FAA) documentation, award the FAA final dispozition and notifies the related departments and suppliers against it
Provides the necessary support for suppliers performances improvement projects
Ensures the availability and evaluations of indicators necessary for monitoring and improvement of assigned suppliers
Provides reports related to the progress status for the assigned projects
Develops and maintains the relations with suppliers
Ensures the management of improvement projects for critical suppliers
Performs approval and surveillance audits in line with the requirements of ISO 9001 and production proceses at suppliers sites
Conducts Suppliers Corrective Actions Requests (SCAR) process, analyze and award the finall dispositions the reports provided by suppliers
Supports the projects and initiatives of Procurement Departments
Performs the supplier audits for quality management system and specific processes
Actively participates in management of strategic acquisition projects
Provides support for approval plan of components per strategic acquisition projects
Ensures the technical review data analysis and submit it to the suppliers appointed for First Article Approval process
Is member into the New Product Introduction team, with the following tasks :
Ensures the necessary information related to the product manufacturability (suppliers interface)
Assists the projects coordinators regarding the suppliers analysis and new products status
Presents all relevant data regarding the existing suppliers performances (metrics) and of new ones
Identifies and manage all current actions related to the suppliers performances
Develops collaboration relations with suppliers, Engineering Department and Production Department
Actively engages in continuous improvement of Departmental processes.
Engineering degree, preferably mechanical.
Be familiar with specific techniques in quality assurance (FMEA, SPC, DOE, Gage R&R, Control Plan, 8D, root cause analysis and process mapping);
Understand and interpretates the technical drawings, geometrical dimensions and tolerances;
A plus would be if the candidate is familiar in working in highly regulated industry domains and use the international standards such as ISO, EN, ASME, ASTM, DIN, UNI, BS, etc.
Be able to apply common-sense judgement for ambiguous and / or difficult situations when in disagreement with suppliers and / or other parties.
Be computer literate - MS Office experience is mandatory.
Proficiency in English is a must both in speaking and writing. Italian is a plus.
Be willing to travel abroad up to 10-25% of the working time.
Have excellent organization skills, analysis, focus on details, good written and verbal communication abilities, proactive attitude and team player.
