Working in close collaboration with the Production teams, usually not based in the same studio, the Localization PM is responsible for organizing and managing multilingual game localization, from project assignment to Gold Master and post launch content.
He / she finds the most suitable solutions to cope with local market objectives, linguistic / technical constraints and project specificities.
Localization is the adaptation of a product to a target culture and market. Basically, it consists in managing the translation & adaptation, audios, integration and linguistic quality assurance of a product from a source language, usually English, to several other destination languages.
Internationalization refers to the ensemble of actions (technical, process wise or linguistic / content wise) taken so that a product can actually be localized, and, even more, that it can be localized easily, quickly and in a cost-efficient manner.
Work together with the development team and make sure the project fulfills the Internationalization requirements.
Work closely with the Localization Group Manager in Bucharest for reaching the best results on assigned projects.
Define the localization format, tools, process and communication flow.
Analyze the game scope and content from the localization perspective and, together with the development team and Localization Group Manager, set the linguistic guidelines of the project.
Set the localization budget, planning and risk assessment.
Set up and direct best fit external and / or internal teams (translators, proofreaders, studios, actors, testers, etc).
Take on outsourcing responsibilities and all the related administrative and contractual tasks (signing the service agreement, requesting POs, following up the invoices, etc.).
Monitor the projects and assure that that quality, budget and deadlines are met.
Evaluate the localization process and quality in order to draw the lessons learned and identify areas of improvement.
Report regularly on project status and risks to the Localization Group Manager.
Share the lessons learned with all parties involved.
Manage several projects simultaneously.
Communicate and collaborate with Localization PMs worldwide : Paris / Montpellier / Malmo / Dusseldorf / Montreal / Shanghai in order to exchange best practices and improve processes.
At least 2 years of work experience in a project manager role, preferably in a multinational company.
Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
Fluent English (written and spoken).
Leadership and problem solving abilities.
Excellent MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint) and Internet literacy.
Curious, able to identify opportunities, seek improvement and drive change.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism in a cross-cultural work environment and to build solid professional relations.
Ability to accept and incorporate feedback.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change, prioritizing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Patience & flexibility.
Good knowledge of video game industry.
Degree in foreign languages is a plus.
French or other foreign language is a plus.
Project Management studies / certification.
Previous localization experience is a plus.
Knowledge of Microsoft Project.
