Detailed Description

and Job RequirementsResponsible for directing and assisting in the preparation, distribution, and accounting of employee payroll.

Manages a professional staff.

Manages in-house Payroll function to include the development, implementation, maintenance, management, processing, and direction of payroll operations.

Ensures employees are paid timely and accurately. Complies with SOX payroll controls. Ensures compliance with all federal and state legislation and deadlines to include the payroll tax process.

Supervise quarterly tax filing and annual returns. Manages relationship with ADP, and ensure tax liability funding and quarterly tax filing is reconciled before submission.

Ensures payroll tax liabilities are reported to the appropriate tax authority and reconciled to the payroll system. Ensures that appropriate controls are in place and administered.

Reviews, develops, and implements payroll processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency. Works with Apps IT and Product Development on product enhancements and reports.

Ensures that all payroll processes are thoroughly tested before implementation. Provides specialized payroll and deduction information and assistance as needed.

Liaison with internal and external audit on payroll issues. Resolves escalated internal payroll issues to include complex payroll tax transactions.

Provides assistance and training to staff for development. Ensures outstanding transactions are reconciled in a timely manner.

Leads a specialized area which may have diverse functional elements. Frequently interacts with supervisors and / or functional peer group managers.

May interact with senior management. Typically 5 years payroll tax experience in a multiple state environment. Experience in quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.

Thorough knowledge of year end processing, amended returns, W2c*s and quarterly adjustments. Demonstrated communication, organizational and analytical skills.

Payroll certification preferred. Intermediate Excel skills. Previous experience with automated payroll systems, Oracle preferred.
