Job Description

The role is in charge of defining, getting approval and implementing the strategy on his sub-commodity globally to meet AOP / STRAP performance objectives while leveraging Garretts’s global spend

Manages commodity buyers, ensure staff availability and grow the competence

Leads commodity strategy activities as part of cross-functional teams (commodity strategy, technical road map, cost plan) :

  • Build Supplier Panel for the Worldwide / Regions operational requirements (project & production)
  • Gate keeper of panel management process (in / out / NBOH)
  • Ensure technology and market expertise of the Sub-Commodity. Keeps Garrett informed of all relevant technological and market trends and economical changes
  • Communicates commodity strategy and ensures buy-in of interfaced organizations (Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality)
  • Ensures platforms, customer teams current and future needs are identified and answered by his sub-commodity strategy
  • Meet AOP objectives on his Sub-Commodity :
  • Builds and consolidates productivity action plans for its sub-commodity (Negotiation, VE, HLRR).
  • Defines corrective action plans with Operations Buyers to ensure AOP objectives are met.
  • Defines yearly negotiations objectives, conducts negotiations with suppliers or assigns supplier accountabilities to regions / Commodity Buyer.
  • Validates negotiations results and concludes commercial agreements with suppliers

  • Generates and consolidate VAVE HLRR ideas for global projects in relation with Eng. COE & Platforms, collect ideas from suppliers.
  • Build Business cases when VE Idea Leader is not in the Operations Sourcing.

  • Responsible for Source Selection : approves sourcing plans, leads bundling strategy, negotiation strategy and source selection
  • Works with project teams and operations to ensure that objectives are met within guidelines of the commodity strategy
  • Manages suppliers relationships : leads supplier performance reviews and fosters improvement of suppliers performance
  • Manages suppliers contract accountable for 100% compliance
  • Supports Supplier performance process according to escalation process. Adjusts panel and business allocations accordingly.
  • Decides on supplier development project launch

  • Supports RCCP process, validates corrective action plan and negotiates capacity increases
  • Supports escalation of major operational issues with impacted Operations Sourcing Manager
  • Requirements :

  • A minimum of 8 years of industry experience in Sourcing (preferably in Automotive Industry) in a multinational company.
  • Preferable having managerial experience
  • Proven experience negotiating and managing strategic suppliers involving Senior Management
  • Have exceptional communication skills.
  • Accomplished track record in developing Commodity Strategies
  • Be a strong & supportive team player, able to partner across functional boundaries
  • Educated to Degree level in a business or technical related subject.
