RINA, a global company with 160 years of experience across multiple industries, is recruiting for a Principal / Senior Consultant to work as part of a growing team delivering Technical Due Diligence services on renewable energy projects worldwide.
While the main focus of the role will be on onshore wind, there will be opportunities to be involved in other technologies such as solar PV and battery storage or hybrid projects, hence experience in those would be beneficial.
What your role will involve We are looking for an experienced engineer and project manager with strong understanding of the Technical Due Diligence field, either gained within a technical consultancy or within a developer or investor.
This opportunity will enable you to work with RINA teams across the globe, stretching your technical and consultancy skills and helping grow our Independent Engineering business.
Your key responsibilities will include : Leading a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver technical advisory and due diligence assignments on time and on budget, and to the required quality standard;
Providing technical advice and written reports (mainly) in relation to on-shore wind projects; Reviewing supply and O&M contracts, including review and drafting of technical specifications.
Occasionally taking part in contracts negotiation; Reviewing civil and electrical designs, contractual documentation, environmental studies and permitting documentation, grid connection agreements, H&S documentation, either directly or with support of other specialists;
Providing oversight and Quality Assurance of reporting produced by other members of the team; Maintain a consistently high degree of quality and technical excellence in all work produced;
Proposals preparation and liaison with clients from proposal stage through to contract award and project delivery; Carry out site visits both greenfield and on operational plants;
People and project management, ensuring effective communication within the project team and with colleagues in Brighton and other global offices, whilst mentoring junior staff and sharing knowledge within the organisation;
Taking part in business development activities through liaison with a wide range of customers from developers to financial institutions, including writing technical proposals, meeting with clients and developing new services in line with market needs.
What we are looking for At least 5-10 years’ experience in the wind / renewable energy sector. Knowledge of due diligence and technical evaluation, project engineering, procurement or construction of wind projects, preferably with a consultancy, developer, or investor;
Strong practical knowledge, both technical and commercial, of how wind and renewable energy assets are developed, constructed, operated and financed;
A degree in an engineering or related technical field; Fluent in English with the ability to write clear and concise reports and present to external stakeholders;
Excellent commercial and communication skills for a client-facing role; Project management skills, with the ability to deliver high quality technical assignments on time and on budget;
Ability to work in a multicultural environment with project teams based across different offices; Knowledge and understanding of the wind market and future prospects / trends in the renewables sector;
IT skills and excellent knowledge of MS Office package. Knowledge of other technologies such as solar PV or energy storage would be very beneficial;
International experience with exposure to different markets (within Europe and beyond); Good general understanding of project finance and the key parties involved in renewable energy transactions;
