The Network Operations Engineer Provides Tier 3 support for the Emerson Electric Global Communications and Information Security Services portfolio.

Works under the general supervision of Global Network Operations management both independently and with other members of the Global Network Operations team to respond to Service Requests, Problems, Incidents, and Change Requests.

Detailed understanding of the function and configuration of Cisco networking equipment

Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers in a large WAN environment

Administering and configuring layer 2 and layer 3 Cisco networks

Operational knowledge of VLANs, spanning tree, BGP and EIGRP

Experience with network monitoring tools. Ability to analyze data and deliver metrics associated with utilization, capacity, and functional operation of the network

Ability to comprehend and create complex network maps and drawings in standard design tools (i.e. Visio)

Functional understanding of DNS, DHCP, and related network services

Understanding of IP addressing including subnetting and supernetting

Operational understanding of different media and cable types

Experience working from a ticketing system

Provide proactive recognition and correction of network-related problems

Provide telephone-based support for GC services and functions for Tier 3 problems forwarded from the customer

Provide support to customers and staff during new WAN or data center installations

Provide the coordination of repair and restoral efforts of various service providers, including monitoring services, telecommunication providers, and ISPs.

Work with various customer and GCIS support groups in diagnosing GCIS service related problems

Ability to perform maintenance activities outside of normal business hours

Participate in Lead engineer work rota including associated responsibilities.

Participate in weekend On-Call work rota. FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED Technical Skills & Education

Associates degree in CS, MIS, or related technology / engineering discipline preferred or equivalent experience required

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent experience required

12 months working with Cisco routing and switching devices

Cisco CCNA, CCNP (preferred), or equivalent work experience
