Job specific context
As a Product Owner you will be the manager that directs the delivery effort of one to three Scrum Teams, by maintaining the Backlog, establishing work priorities that are integrated with business priorities and negotiating the delivery timeline with all stakeholders.
Clarity will be one of your main concerns as you will be standing in between the development competence of the Scrum Teams and the priorities of external stakeholders.
Within TREC you will be reporting to the Product Owner Lead, the person accountable for ensuring that all the TiVo Scrum Teams have clarity on their work backlog and its integration with TiVo delivery plans and collaborating closely with your associated Scrum Master.
Within TiVo you will be working with the Product Managers and Program Managers that manage TiVo's work priorities.
Your immediate challenges will be :
mastering the TiVo organizational and technical context, focusing on optimizing delivery scope and schedule;
establishing functional communication channels with the Program Manager and Product Manager
clarifying work content for the Scrum Teams you are assigned to, making sure this aspect does not become a blocker in their delivery effort;
create a solid relationship with the Scrum Master assigned to the same Scrum Teams as you, determining the upcoming priorities in ensuring they become High Performance Scrum Teams.
You are accountable to the Product Owner Lead for the number of Sprint Ready Backlog Items.
In this context you will be most likely working to :
create and / or maintain a healthy, prioritized Backlog for your assigned team(s);
create and / or maintain the Team Release Plan;
answer all Dev Team questions in regard to work requirements;
review and accept work completed by the Development Team;
optimizing the Business Value that your assigned Scrum Team(s) produce;
collaborate with the Scrum Master to evolve your assigned team(s) to High Performing status as per our definition;
foresee any product level integration issues;
ensure timely and objective information exchange between all the stakeholders, including reporting on team progress and performance;
facilitate the production of Product Life-Cycle documentation.
You will be part of three equally important teams :
The Product Ownership Teamis the body that governs the distribution of work within TREC : making sure every team has clear delivery challenges suitable to their competence and well integrated with TiVo priorities.
It is made out of all the Product Owners in TREC and lead by the PO Lead. You will be expected to contribute alongside your fellow PO to continuously improve TREC's ability to deliver quality work per specs, on time, on budget using Scrum.
The Scrum Teamis the essential delivery body of TREC. You will be assigned to work with a specific team in TREC.
You will need solid experience with :
Product Ownership or Project Management within a cross-functional team of at least 7 technical people;
Planning the Agile delivery of a project spanning multiple quarters;
Integrating within the life-cycle of a product / project that serves over 1 million users;
Identifying and solving complex problems derived from a mix of business, technical and human factors;
Communicating in English, verbally and in writing.
Degrees and certifications :
BS degree in Computer Science or other related field.
An understanding of coding practices and continuous delivery practices;
Experience with Scrum;
A systemic understanding of how an enterprise level business works;
Client management experience.
