TE Connectivity’s R&D / Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice.
They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes;
conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp.
The R&D / Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D / 3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements.
They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
Typical fields of expertise include : materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
For our site in Timisoara and our new engineering hub, we are now hiring Hardware Engineers! Be a part of the Temperature, Position and Speed R&D team as well as driver for innovation and improvement.
Collaborate and work actively within local and global design teams. Seek out and help analyse end customer requirement for new product opportunities to take advantages of TE Sensor Solutions expertise.
Seek and implement technology improvements, as well as best practices of product and process development. Contribute to technical roadmap, coordinate technical activities and communications.
Quickly develop deep understanding of products of multiple position and temperature product lines.
As part of the team, your tasks will be divided into :
Initiate, lead and complete development projects (LEAP, NPI) of new technology process & products
Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers as required on LEAP, NPI or Sustaining projects
Collaborate with various vendors to identify processes and tools required for a new design
Lead or guide a small team
Secure proper documentation / knowledge transmission to other TE engineering groups and TE BU
Mentor and coach other engineers in business unit.
Provides guidance and complex subject matter training to others
Manage follow up of engineering details along project development
What your background should look like :
Master’s or Engineering degree, in Mechanical Development, Electronics Engineering or Physics
Diploma in ME, Physics or Material Science
7+ years in mechanical or product development
Professional experience in mechanical or product development
Experience in technology and manufacturing of complex electronic systems and in automation of production processes incl.
assembly such as soldering wires to PCBA, screwing and potting
Experience with assembly processes as laser / ultrasonic / electric welding, injection molding, pressing and stamping and similar
Material science experience and know-how preferable
Mechanical design with respect to DFM methodology
Ability to use 2D / 3D MCAD software
Knowledge about PCBA manufacturing would be a plus
Electronics and SW knowledge would be a plus
Matlab / Octave / Labview know-how would be a plus
Good experience / knowledge of phase gate design process
Understanding of IATF-16949 requirements, ideally also ISO 14001.
Solid knowledge of statistics, DOE and execution of tests (DFSS Green Belt would be a plus); experience with development of test concepts and performing of module and system testing.
Experience in writing protocols and reports for design verification, design validation.
Experience with sensor development and manufacturing would be a plus
Analytical mindset with problem-solving aptitude
Ability to work independently, lead innovation of new technology process & product.
Strong design for quality orientation (Design for Six Sigma)
