We are looking for a site reliability engineer passionate about network infrastructures and new technologies. The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible of designing and implementing automated systems to manage a large load balancer enterprise platform across multiple clouds.

Should be able to work effectively across groups and functions, act on feedback and execute on the received requests. Key activities will be focused on understanding, analysing, solving complex problems and contributing to incident response process through early detection and auto-remediation.

What you’ll do

Areas of focus for this role include but are not limited to :

  • Automation and software development Develop new tools, workflows & platforms to streamline processes and shorten problem resolution time.
  • Solve operational problems using software engineering best practices. Identify and reduce toil leveraging automation, ensuring a high level of value, productivity and quality.

  • IT Service Design & Support Work closely with our architecture and engineering teams to design, build and maintain highly-
  • available services throughout our complex world-wide infrastructure.

  • Infrastructure Management You will be responsible for deploying and mataining our environment, identifying and fixing gaps in monitoring to increase the availability of the service according to our SLOs.
  • Operational Support We receive numerous requests daily to update, expand, and support our services. We need someone to be able to understand the customer requests and provide them with responsive and friendly service, participating as part of a follow-
  • the-sun on-call rotation.

  • Performance & Optimization Work with product teams to determine correct workloads and provide optimization guidelines regarding supported platforms.
  • Inspire and encourage solution teams to build reliable and scalable services. We need someone who can ensure that our multi-

    thousand node marketing cloud service is running at peak performance and throughput at all times, with the ability to troubleshoot across the entire stack : hardware, software, application and network.

    What you need to succeed

    The successful candidate will demonstrate experience or capability in the following areas :

  • Demonstrated programming skills in two or more of : Bash, Perl, Python, GoLang
  • Strong Experience with Unix / Linux system administration.
  • Familiar with a variety of the cloud and automation concepts, practices and procedures
  • Recent large-scale experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Chef, or equivalent
  • Experience with large-scale automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Chef, Terraform.
  • Experience with platform monitoring and alerting tools such as Nagios, Grafana, New Relic, CollectD, Prometheus, RRD.
  • Practical experience in container technologies like Kubernetes or Docker.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, version control systems (e.g. Git) and release management process.
  • Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment methodologies and tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker.
  • Understanding of operational principles, such as capacity planning, monitoring and incident handling
  • Knowledge of software load balancing solutions, such as Nginx, HA Proxy, Envoy.
  • Experience in networking technologies is a plus (e.g. routing, switching)

  • Eager to learn about about infrastructure operations. We want someone who does not have a preference for one tool but rather looks for the right tool for the job.
  • Analytical with the ability to troubleshoot complex system problems, to assess / resolve system performance problems, and can troubleshoot situations looking for all the options and turning over every rock to find the best solution.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work well with remote teams.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a cross-functional and collaborative team of developers and operations.
