Preferred Qualifications

The lab engineer is a member of the Customer Environment Labs Hardware organization focused on Customer support for hardware technical issues. The lab engineer is responsible for daily administration and maintenance of lab infrastructure and for assisting lab users with reservation, installation and configuration of lab equipment consisting of Sun-Oracle server, storage, switch, and networking products. The lab engineer will work within Oracle's Bucharest, Romania lab location on a daily basis and is a member of a team responsible for providing lab services and capabilities to both local and remote engineers in the support of Oracle Customers' critical hardware issues.

Daily operational responsibilities including administration and maintenance of lab infrastructure.
Install and configure server, storage, networking, and switch equipment to replicate customer environments.
Assist with the troubleshooting of both H/W and S/W configuration issues.
Collaborate with HW and SW Support engineers worldwide to configure and provision hw-OS- network environments used for testing.
Provide support & training to engineers in the use of lab accessibility tools and equipment.
Work as part of a global team providing local and remote lab support.
Learn how to provision, administer, and repair new Oracle H/W and S/W products as they are introduced.

Experience with Sun-Oracle Sparc / X86 servers, storage disk/tape products, networking and switch products.
Installation and system administration of Solaris, Microsoft, Linux operating systems.
Understanding of networks and naming services.
Familiar with switch infrastructure and terminal servers.
Strong verbal and written english communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with highly technical people.
Effective system administration problem solving and troubleshooting.
Effective reading and research skills.
Ability to work unsupervised.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Assists with analyzing complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.

As part of a software project implementation team, provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user needs. Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business specifications. Designs details of automated systems. May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.

Job duties are varied and complex; independent judgment needed. May have project lead role. Prefer 5 years relevant experience and BA/BS degree.
