Job Description & Summary
The Systems Engineer will be a member of the Global Hosting Services (GHS) Infrastructure Operations team and come to the organization having extensive server hosting and operations experience.
The role holder will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all hosting related activities including Windows and Linux Operating Systems, VMWare virtualization, Azure, AWS and GCP cloud services .
Provides technical leadership and is responsible for the operational aspects of the platforms within the Global Hosting Service.
Installation, operations, support, strategy and security hardening coordination of the OS both on premise and in the CSP.
The role will also involve mentoring and training a team around the technology and processes to deliver a 24 / 7 / 365 service that meets the published SLA.
The Systems Engineer will also interface between the GHS Operations Team and the varied Firm (PwC) teams that rely on the solution.
As such, he / she will come to the role already having excellent customer service and communication skills.
The Global Hosting Service provides and operates highly available 24 / 7 servers, Iaas and PaaS across 3 on-premise hosting centers in Germany, Singapore, USA and Cloud Service (Microsoft Azure Cloud, Amazon Web Service and Google Cloud Platform).
Basic Qualifications / Preferred Skills & Knowledge
Responsible for ensuring the GHS operations & platform are performing in line with published SLA
Responsible for the consistent strategy, configuration and ongoing OS compliance of all operating systems
Responsible for operating system hardening in compliance with global security requirements
Participation on configuration baselines and security templates development and
Manage a life cycle of the operating system platform
Work with OS vendor and other Infrastructure Ops teams on critical matters related to
operating systems such as support, licensing and security incidents
Overseeing workstream deliverables, including regular reporting, capacity, availability and
regular SOPs reviews and updates
Leading team and any related outsourced functions, prioritizing work, ensuring that tickets
are handled as per SLA
Where applicable participate in the GHS certification efforts (ISO27001, SOC-2 etc) and
ensure day to day compliance with all processes and procedures
Work with other GHS Ops teams to ensure that IT Disaster Recovery plan
is up-to-date and tested annually
Working with project teams, TDAs and the applications teams
implementing new operating systems standards
Providing inputs for annual budget and tracking actuals vs. budget
Identifying automation opportunities and driving continuous
Participation in 24 / 7 on-call coverage
Job Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
5 years of experience in enterprise hosting environment
Significant hands on experience in both MS Azure and AWS cloud environments
Excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and
leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with Leadership and
team members, having a holistic view on IT infrastructure.
Knowledge in server OS and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
ITIL certification is a plus
Experience in delivering cross-border global services and working in
virtual teams is a plus
