Preferred Qualifications

The lab engineer is a member of the Customer Environment Labs Hardware organization focused on Customer support for hardware technical issues. The lab engineer’s primary responsibility is SW development and sustaining of applications used within the lab operation (administration, bug-fix, feature enhancements). Secondary responsibility for daily administration and maintenance of lab infrastructure and for assisting lab users with reservation, installation and configuration of lab equipment consisting of Sun-Oracle server, storage, switch, and networking products. The lab engineer will work within Oracle's Bucharest, Romania lab location on a daily basis and is a member of a team responsible for providing lab services and capabilities to both local and remote engineers in the support of Oracle Customers' critical hardware issues.

Activities:
Responsibilities include [1] SW application development support and [2] onsite lab hw infrastructure support

Primary focus:
Provide SW application development and sustaining support for applications used in the lab environment (administration, bug-fix, feature enhancements)

Develop web application back end components, write code, implement Python and Java applications, ensure data security and protection, and identify data storage solutions

Diagnose and resolve SW code issues for lab existing applications

Develop, test, and deliver new lab applications into the production environment

Secondary focus:
Install and configure server, storage, networking, and switch equipment to replicate customer environments

Administration and maintenance of lab infrastructure

Assist with the troubleshooting of both H/W and S/W configuration issues.
Collaborate with HW and SW Support engineers worldwide to configure and provision hw-OS- network environments used for testing

Provide support & training to engineers in the use of lab accessibility tools and equipment. Work as part of a global team providing local and remote lab support. Learn how to provision, administer, and repair new Oracle H/W and S/W products as they are introduced.
Experience:
Software Development experience:
Core skill: Python, Solaris administration
Backend: Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, NodeJS, RESTfull webservices
GUI: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, Backbone, Underscore, Bootstrap
Virtualization: VirtualBox, LDOMs
Database: MySQL, PLSQL

Hardware support experience:
Sun-Oracle Sparc / X86 servers, storage disk/tape products, networking and switch productsInstallation and system administration of Solaris, Microsoft, Linux operating systemsUnderstanding of networks and naming servicesFamiliar with switch infrastructure and terminal servers

Ability to work individually or as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively with highly technical people. Discuss technical and design issues with other developers, managers, or users whenever necessary to achieve best solution

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Assists with analyzing complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.

As part of a software project implementation team, provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user needs. Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business specifications. Designs details of automated systems. May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Prefer 8 years relevant experience and BA/BS degree.
