ABOUT THE TEAM

For the Impact Pillar within ESG Research, Sustainalytics has set-up a small team with ESG Content Specialists, to support our impact research teams in Poland, Romania and India.

The research scope includes social, green- and sustainable economic activities, but also negative product areas (e.g. tobacco, palm oil) and controversial weapons research.

The ESG Impact Content Team supports our research teams with the interpretation of regulations like the EU Taxonomy and the implementation of related research methodologies.

The team supports internal content inquiries and performs quality checks on research content to ensure qualitative deliveries to clients.

Next to joining calls with internal and external stakeholders representing the research team, the team also helps improve analyst and indicator guidance documentation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Team Manager ESG Content specialists (Impact) oversees the management of the day-to-day activities for a +5-analyst sub-team that will be focused on the interpretation and the implementation of Impact related research methodologies.

Since it is a new team, it is important for the Team Manager to be able to set direction and create a vision for the team.

An engineering background is a strong asset to understand and be able to help the team make decisions on the sustainability of industry- and company level activities.

Typically, the Team Manager works closely with his or her manager and team of ESG Content Specialists, as well as with internal Sustainalytics’ stakeholders to ensure that all the agreed-upon research commitments are met.

The Team Manager is ultimately responsible for the team’s delivery and quality. He or she will be accountable for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, and efficiency of the team.

The ideal candidate should preferably be able to work in a fast-paced, international, technical environment. The ability to communicate clearly at all levels, form strong relationships with stakeholders and proactively identify and manage risks is also essential in this role.

The ESG Impact Content Team is part of the Impact Pillar which is part of the global Sustainalytics research department.

The Team Manager will report to the Impact Pillar Lead, located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and lead a team of 5+ ESG Content Specialists by providing clear direction, establishing SMART goals, and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Acts as main point of contact for his or her entire team for all questions, comments and concerns.
  • Identifies areas for improvement across the team and proactively takes steps to improve by arranging individual and group training sessions as appropriate.
  • Develop expertise in understanding the methodologies related to ESG Impact Research and be able to translate this to research requirements.
  • Track developments in sustainable environmental and social activities, including current and emerging thematic trends, drivers, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the ESG Impact Research and methodology and help translate it in effective operational processes.
  • Support the research teams in making robust assessments in corner cases where guidance does not suffice.
  • Provide service / support to the Client Relations and Product teams in answering client inquiries in calls and e-mails.
  • Support the Issuer Relations team in providing high quality responses towards issuers.
  • Provide ESG Impact Research insights, supporting the development of whitepapers or other material that can be published by Sustainalytics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across global teams and offices.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-6 years of related work experience (research and / or consulting).
  • At least 1-2 years of experience leading teams of 5+ people.
  • Degree(s) in related discipline (business, sustainability and / or engineering).
  • Strong accounting skills / knowledge
  • Strong oral and written communication in English.
  • Strong knowledge of international and regional standards, taxonomies and regulatory initiatives relevant to sustainable finance.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and responsible investment and debt capital markets.
  • Technical expertise related to energy, carbon and / or industrial processes.
  • Experience in research is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, analytical entrepreneurialism and critical thinking are key.
  • Client-centric approach.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance.
  • Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint
  • Positive attitude and innovative mindset.
