THE ROLE & TEAM

Working with the Android team, we have a great opportunity for a full time Android Developer based from Porto office. With about 50% of our bookings on mobile, our users rely on our apps for booking on the go.

We are totally committed to creating an engaging user experience and staying at the forefront of innovation in Android and mobile technologies.

You will join a small but focused team, committed to delivering quality software. Partnering with diverse and global colleagues (product managers and designers) across all our locations you will get to collaborate on exciting projects and really contribute to Hostelworld’s success.

We are looking for someone with a background in computer science, with a minimum of 3 of experience working in Android development and who enjoys working within a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Design, build and maintain high performance, reusable and reliable code;

Guarantee quality of Hostelworld & APIs Android client, using unit and UI tests to validate the implementations;

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and plan new features;

Maintain and develop our CI / CD pipelines;

Participate in scoping, estimation, prioritization and sprint planning.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Qualifications :

Degree in computer science or similar;

5+ years native android development;

Java and Kotlin knowledge;

Experience in building and publishing commercial Android applications

in-Depth understanding of the Android SDK

Knowledge & Skills :

Strong Kotlin and Java programming skills;

Proficiency using Android Studio and ADT;

Experience creating / maintaining Jenkins pipelines is a plus;

Unit testing using JUnit;

UI testing using Espresso;

Consuming web APIs using JSON;

Source control using git;

Good communication skills.
