Job Summary

The Oracle IT Asset Management (ITAM) Analyst’s role is to contribute to a team of ITAM Specialists working to assist SHI customers in understanding their Hardware and Software Environments.

The ITAM Analyst will join the ITAM Services team and will utilize SHI’s best practice procedures, tools and people to assist our customers in controlling their IT costs as well as the associated legal and financial risks.

The position reports to the ITAM Oracle Team Lead.

  • Participates in customer communications as well as work being produced across the entire life cycle of an ITAM project.
  • This includes producing as well as assisting the ITAM Consultant with presenting intermediate and final results and assuring projects are conducted and closed to the satisfaction of all parties.

  • Collects and manages ITAM-related information from SHI, customers, and software manufacturers.
  • Executes all ITAM Analyst tasks according to the project plans of all assigned customer engagements.
  • Coordinates with service delivery teams in order to communicate project status and ensure project milestones are being met.
  • Operates in line with the SHI core values, processes and procedures;
  • Adheres and works to the internal process standards as defined and updated by management.
  • Assist Project Managers in managing project timelines and customer expectations;
  • Stay up to date on new product technology offerings, manufacturer specific training and certification / accreditations.
  • The candidate will be required to take on-going ITAM accreditations and certifications as well as attend partner training.
  • Learn and follow the ITAM standards to ensure all ITAM projects are conducted professionally, ethically, and in a manner consistent with SHI quality standards.
  • Must keep all customer information confidential.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Permanently update, monitor and quality check customers’ data into the SHI internal ITAM systems;
  • Performs quality checks against entered data to ensure it accurately reflects owned software licenses.
  • Engage Sales, Licensing, Customers, and Software Manufacturers to help customers collect, organize, and manage customers’ licensed software assets;
  • Uploads entitlement data into the SHI internal ITAM systems;
  • Organize, normalize and analyze customers’ contracts, as well as perform quality checks against entered data to ensure it accurately reflects contractual entitlement;
  • Researches and understands Product Use Rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements for software products and manufacturers (with a specialty in Oracle software);
  • Assists the ITAM Consultants and Technical Specialists with the process of defining the entitlement and inventory scope of customer ITAM data, in order to ensure entitlement and inventory information are properly aligned and consistent;
  • Working close together with the Oracle Technical Specialists to produce a Software License Inventory Position (SLIP) that looks to position and adjust inventory collection techniques that are tailored according to customers’ environment as understood through their entitlements;
  • Apply rules to hardware and software inventory data to establish an accurate and complete summary of software and hardware requirements.
  • Supports the Consultant with basic entitlement analysis, licensing requirements analysis and risk assessments;
  • Supports the Consultant with any deliverables that address clients’ needs by stating facts, determining patterns, trends and observed deviations;
  • Compare customers’ contractual entitlements against their utilization in order to assess gaps and surpluses in licensing, as well as offer consulting services as to the best practices to optimize their position in order to avoid unnecessary costs.
  • Assists the ITAM Consultants with the preparation and presentation of deliverables to customers.
  • Assists the ITAM Consultants in communicating accurate and relevant conclusions to customers across the entire life cycle of an ITAM project.
  • Including producing and presenting analytical results and assuring projects get closed to the satisfaction of all parties.

  • Coordinate with service delivery teams in order to communicate project status and ensure project milestones are being met.
  • Other activities, as defined by ITAM management to successfully deliver ITAM consulting activities to customers.
  • Participates into the user acceptance testing of internal ITAM systems in order to help enhance internal ITAM platforms;
  • Attend and support SHI events and vendor shows
  • Designs specialist blog articles, webinars, industry events presentations
  • Qualifications

  • The position requires a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the IT life-cycle including licensing, purchasing, deploying, tracking, reporting, decommissioning, and harvesting software and hardware assets.
  • The candidate must have at least one and a half years’ experience working in Oracle’s licensing department as well as hold some associated accreditations.

    The ideal candidate will hold some or all the following accreditations or training; if the accreditations are not currently held the successful candidate will be required to study and pass them within a short period of commencing the role.

    ITAM Review LISA Training

    SHI are seeking a well-rounded experienced ITAM Analyst and therefore we welcome all other relevant skills and experience.

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred as well as a minimum of 2 years of experience within the IT Asset Management field;
  • with a minimum of 1 ½ years’ experience working in Oracle’s licensing department.

  • Special Demands

    Position is required occasional travel both nationally and internationally (20%).
