The advertising data science and advanced analytics team consists of 5 data scientists and analysts, and works closely with the engineering team that manages the data infrastructure for advertising.

The team is recently established and there will be many opportunities to shape your experience and way of working.

The team members also work embedded in virtual teams with business developers and operations specialists located in our markets Norway and Sweden, maintaining a close connection to the business outcomes of the work done.

In addition, team members frequently interact with other analytical hubs in Schibsted, providing a broad network for professional training around data science, data analytics and cloud based big data computing.


We are looking for data analysts to join our advertising data science and advanced analytics team.

As an analyst your job will be to formulate hypotheses, and perform analyses of different datasets related to advertising campaigns and inventory , such as log files from ad server, user event tracking from our data platform, identity attributes from our in house login provider, and externally sourced panel and research data.

You will have the support of a strong engineering team, but will at the same time be expected to be hands-on in all phases from exploring data, designing data flows and figuring out scalable analytics for use in production environments.

The focus will be to enhance the quality and scalability of our advertising campaign reporting and ad targeting segment analytics, and as such play a key role in our reporting to our advertisers.

This entails both scalable standard reporting for reach and demographics, but also more customised analytics for our largest advertisers.

The work will be a mix of creating analysis for proof of concepts for later development, running benchmarking of our advertising targeting options and doing ad hoc analysis where user level data could enlighten decision making or be used for marketing of our advertising inventory.


You will work with a modern cloud-based tech stack with data exploration and processing pipelines in AWS (SageMaker, EMR, Glue, Step Functions, Athena) and user-facing data in Tableau but also ad hoc work with SQL databases, Snowflake, csv or json files , and sometimes you will even have to curl your way to the data from REST APIs.


Your core skills are likely :

  • Knowledge of Python programming and SQL
  • Experience with ETL tools
  • Experience of performing queries on large (billions of events) dataset
  • Ability to formulate business relevant hypotheses, interpret complex data and communicate insights tailored to different audiences
  • Ability to write clean and readable code
  • We will consider Mid, as well as Junior profiles
  • Experience with the following tools / technologies is a plus :

  • Docker
  • Formal competency requirements :

  • MSc degree, with at least the equivalent of 6 month full time university level statistics course, or an equivalent work experience
  • 2+ year working experience (or very strong academic background with relevant projects)
