Petrofac has varied and interesting work across all phases of projects and thisis an opportunity to join the project management team of one of the industry’sleading contractors.
You will be based in our Woking (UK) office, where weexecute a broad portfolio of Conceptual Studies, Front End Engineering and Detailed Engineering, primarily for the Oil and Gas sector
The successful candidate will be an enthusiasticexperienced Metallurgist / Materials Engineer with the ability to lead a team ofother engineers.
He or she will beorganised and have the ability to work with all levels of theorganisation. An understanding ofcommercial aspects of engineering contracting is important as the candidatewill be involved in developing proposals and deputising for the group manager.
A deep technical knowledge in materials selection,fabrication techniques, corrosion assessment, monitoring and mitigation for oiland gas facilities both onshore and offshore is highly desirable.
Knowledge ofcathodic protection will be beneficial.
A hands-on approach is essential to manageperformance in our projects, interfacing with clients and internal customers toprovide a responsive and technically robust solution to our customers’ needs.
Skills and Experience required :
Must be Masters Degree qualified in Metallurgy / Materials.
Be a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered Status
Knowledge of materials selection for offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities engineering and design
Knowledge of suitable fabrication techniques
Knowledge of likely corrosion mechanisms and mitigation and assessment of these mechanisms
Ability to lead the Metallurgy discipline within a project, and to move forward under challenging project scenarios
Ability to think innovatively, practically and pragmatically and to react to change efficiently in a structured manner
Ability to plan the metallurgical engineering of a project, understanding the interactions between disciplines and striving to optimise productive progress
Flexible and responsive approach to achieve clients and Petrofac requirements
Must be a strong communicator with the ability to effectively manage and collaborate with peers and clients in an often fast paced environment
Must be commercially aware, keeping the mechanical technical scope of a project under control and contributing to the development of proposals.
