The Mission

As a Chapter Leader you are responsible for the Payments and Workflow Solutions development chapter. Your ultimate goal is to develop the team members by motivating and coaching them, so they can reach their full potential.

In the same time, you are involved in the software development (you are a highly skilled engineer). You will use Microsoft stack to maintain and deliver the best possible service for the customers.

Area of responsibility

Payments and Solution Workflow area is responsible for providing E2E (one instance) services for many ING countries, spread on different continents (Europe, Asia, America).

The most important service is the Single Payment Engine (SPE), but we have also a payments channel service Manual Channel Engine (MCE).

Not least, we have a portfolio of SharePoint applications supporting many operational and support teams across ING.

Your key responsibilities

  • First of all, you are a passionate, hands-on developer, spending 60% of your time on content tasks related to the domain;
  • You help your team develop through coaching, mentoring and constant feedback;
  • Use Agile SCRUM principles to deliver the product backlog;
  • Interacting with international business stakeholders to gather requirements and to set priorities and expectations;
  • Develop department goals which support corporate objectives;
  • Manage the research of technical solutions to meet strategic business objectives;
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry standards and trends in your area, in order to determine improvements to application solutions;
  • You are in charge of the how - how to build an efficient, high quality solution based on the requested functionality;
  • Together with your IT Area Lead you set targets for each team member;
  • You work with the recruitment team to attract, onboard and retain top talent;
  • You are responsible for HR related activities : 1 to 1 meeting with your team members, performance management, objectives setting etc
  • You participate in different internal and external events (meetups, hackathons etc) to represent the team as a key person from our area.
  • What you bring to the team

  • A University degree in Computer Science, Cybernetics or equivalent;
  • 5+ years of Microsoft software engineering experience;
  • Experience with coaching and motivating team members;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft stack :
  • ASP.NET (Core, MVC, Web Forms) using C#, SharePoint; BizTalk is a plus;
  • SQL Server 2012+, SQL Server Data Tools (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Power BI;
  • Visual Studio 2015 / 2017, TFS (version control + automation);
  • Experience with pair programming, CDaaS, automated testing, scripting (PowerShell);
  • Familiarity with tools like Confluence, Fortify, Serenity, Maven, Git;
  • Good knowledge in designing and working with solution architectures;
  • Knowledge of networking / infra (working with virtualization, cloud);
  • Good experience in implementing IT Security concepts / controls;
  • Knowledge of ITIL, experience in working with Change & Incident Management and working with E2E service concept;
  • Strong analytical skills, proactivity and willingness to share knowledge with others;
  • Excellent communication skills with business partners and other ING departments;
  • Ability to coordinate an experienced and dynamic development team;
  • Advanced ability to build relationships with business and technical partners to improve customer service and continuously improve project delivery;
  • High degree of flexibility and good negotiation skills;
  • Occasional travel (few times per year) abroad for different events.
