LSEG Post Trade is a key division of the London Stock Exchange Group consisting of London Clearing House (LCH) and UnaVista.

Post Trade supports our customers’ clearing and regulatory reporting obligations, providing risk, balance sheet and financial resource management solutions.

LCH operates a group of multinational clearing houses, providing counterparty risk mitigation across multiple asset classes for sell-side clearing members and buy-side clients in conjunction with trading venues globally.

UnaVista provides regulatory reporting services help clients align with multiple global reporting regimes all through one platform.

This role is part of the Post Trade engineering team which is a central group focussed on improving the engineering practices, experience and technology usage.

The team is also a key part of realising Post Trades’ strategy of moving technology platform to cloud provided services particularly AWS and Azure.

As a part of that strategy LSEG Post Trade is intending to migrate to use Postgres as the database of choice.

This role is intended as the Postgres lead in the Post Trade division working with application teams to develop or migrate solutions based on Postgres.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining best practices and standards for Postgres solutions across the division.

This will be a hands-on role, developing database code for resolving complex Postgres issues that are beyond the capabilities of application teams.

Key responsibilities of the role :

Provide expert skills on the development of solutions using Postgres technology

Implement database code for resolving issues or application tuning

Assist teams in their migration to Postgres particularly from Oracle

Provide oversight and assurance over Cloud Service Providers and their support of Postgres

Implement and maintain database code in the form of stored procedures, scripts, queries, views, triggers, etc.

Work with application teams to ensure efficiency of database code, integrity of data structures and quality of data content

Review database application design and application code

Participate as a member in Agile teams, and work with other team members to review user stories, estimate effort to build functionality supporting user stories, and participate in sprint reviews

Skills

5+ years working as a database developer including at least 2+ years working with Postgres

Experienced Level SQL, PL / pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views

Knowledge of XML and JSON and Postgres support for complex data types

Ability to efficiently write database code without compromising data quality, privacy or security

Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels

Demonstrable experience working with huge, interdependent, complex datasets and data structures

Ideally experience of Postgres deployments provided by cloud service providers particularly Postgres Aurora

Experience with other database technologies particularly Oracle and Snowflake - would also be useful

Behavioural skills

Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and / or workarounds

Work with people across multiple locations as part of a global team

Experience in working in an agile environment
