The Senior Manager Data Layer will :

Be accountable for the delivery of the Finance, Risk, and Regulatory data layer. This entails data modelling, managing the contribution to the related platform & tooling components in line with the agreed upon roadmap, and this in line with best practices in the development area and according to the First Time Right principles : scope, quality, cost and timelines respected as per agreement.

In order to achieve this, the key focus will lie on :

First and foremost, the goal of the function is to deliver properly working data layer. This entails data modelling, managing the contribution to the related platform & tooling components which contribute to an ever-increasing customer satisfaction and positive customer experience commitment to deliver the agreed output.

Bringing leadership on the data layer, Promote data governance principles and practices across FRR (Financial, Risk & Regulatory Reporting) and act as a modeling gate keeper through solid financial knowledge.

Promote Data platform, positioning it as a key component through technical expertise in data integration and virtualization.

Besides the effective delivery, we also focus on some key best practices in the development space. Overarching, every development activity needs to contribute to at least one of the following key parameters : performance, security, scalability and overarching customer experience & satisfaction design & development philosophy

Resourcing excellence : the right people for the right job

Create & maintain a work culture where people can develop their skill sets, are compensated fairly and receive regular feedback about performance expectations and assessment retain talent

Continuous focus on customer needs and delivery commitments within the specified parameters

Continuous process improvement of the Software Development Life Cycle : process improvement and optimization will allow us to focus on faster, better, cheaper

Best practices in the development space are core to our consistent and scalable success in this area. Being an ambassador in the company on the one hand, and a successful implementer on the other hand is a key required attitude operational excellence

In order to have the necessary insight into process improvements, there needs to be a thorough focus on underlying management data and related KPI’s or other metrics.

Examples : time consumption, cost analytics, operational efficiency, throughput times, defect containment, change failure rate, manage by metrics

In order to achieve this, the Senior Manager needs to have the following competencies :

Up to 10 years of experience in software development of which a large part in related management positions in a software development company or department of similar size or complexity

Senior-level skills in finance related data modelling, data architecture, data integration, development with object-oriented programming, relational databases in n-tier application platforms

A master degree in science, informatics or applied sciences or equivalent through experience would be beneficial

Experience with processes and tools supporting Agile methodologies. Strong understanding of modern Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Bring leadership to implement these practices (Continuous Delivery, High level of test automation, Security first)

Proven track record of methodologically delivering value through people and technology. Process management experience and performance metrics management experience are key in this.

Experience with Lean / Six Sigma or equivalent frameworks is a must

People manager with affinity to get the best out of people and to create a great-place-to-work atmosphere. Furthermore, people management experience in a matrix organization with a global footprint and development resources in different physical locations is a must

In our matrixed organization, it is essential to have the right communication, collaboration & reporting skills. Hence, it is essential to have a core soft skill competence in these areas.

Obviously, affinity with supporting tools like Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence, Sales Force, is needed

Experience leading organizational change management

Excellent communication (written and oral) skills feeling comfortable with management reporting and presentations

Assertive and results driven able to work with and influence multiple stakeholders across different departments, including Product Development, Professional Services and Product Management

Act as a change facilitator; manage problem prevention; conflict resolution; ability to see the bigger business picture; and ensure employee welfare focus

Team player with cross departmental collaboration focus inspiring others to outperform

Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment out-of-the-box solution oriented

Responsible, methodical and organized

Can-do mentality, while acting as a continual improvement role model

Fluent in English (B2+ level or higher), local language are assets

Additional details :

Travel required : maximum 20% of the time

The team for which the Senior Manager data Layer ng will be responsible holds + / - 15 developers, software testers, product owners, scrum masters and other technical functions.

People are located mainly in 5 countries : Belgium (Gent & Mechelen), Switzerland (Lausanne), India (Pune), Romania (Cluj), India (Pune) along with teams at vendors’ location, mainly in Central & Eastern Europe

As part of the leadership team, this function will interact daily with leaders in the area of PMO, Technology, Quality & Delivery and other Development departments part of the overall * / dxg-FRR Product Development organization as well as be a core counterpart for the Product Management Platform organization

Specific to this role is the responsibility to ingest stronger development practices regarding agile way of working, automation principles, in the own team as well as through engagement with the colleagues
