Synopsys, a world leader in the Semiconductor IP industry, is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer whose primary mandate is to ensure that Synopsys Automotive IPs comply with ISO 26262 and related standards for automotive functional safety and reliability.
This position will work globally with internal development teams and external customers to ensure conformance torelated quality, functional safety, and automotive reliability requirements.
There will be some domestic and international travel required.
Work with customers, field teams, and product teams to evaluate customer requirements related to quality, functional safety, and automotive reliability
Guide development teams in functional safety analysis across product planning, concept, design, implementation, and verification including hardware, firmware, and embedded software
Required to assist and / or conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative functional safety analyses such as FMEA / FMEDA, DFMEA, DFA and FTA
Required to support development of key functional safety documents such as technical safety concepts, functional safety mechanisms as well as execution of functional safety assessments
Work closely with internal development teams and automotive customers to ensure coordinated functional safety compliance
Participate in quality and functional safety reviews and provide reports
Maintain and enhance functional safety analysis and development methods, templates, and work products
Employ and contribute to Synopsys’ Quality Management System
Act as an internal functional safety auditor and assessor
Other related tasks as assigned
University degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of semiconductor development flows
Highly proficient in English
Formal training in ISO 26262
Experience as a Functional Safety Architect or Engineer in safety critical applications with strong understanding of hardware and software development and functional lifecycle management
Experience in qualifying systems with embedded hardware and / or software to various ISO 26262 ASIL levels up to ASIL D including areas of Random Hardware and Systematic Faults
Experience with various ISO 26262 work products such as Technical Safety Concept; Safety Plan; FMEA / FMEDA, DFMEA, DFA and FTA Analyses;
Safety Manual; Safety Case
Working knowledge of automotive reliability standards such as AEC Q100 is an advantage
Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 is an advantage
