Full time starting salary is normally in the range £27,511 to £30,046. With potential progression once in post to £33,797 a year.

Due to funding restrictions maximum starting salary available for this post will be £30,046

Part time 40% FTE

Fixed term contract for up to 31st December 2021

Summary of Role

We are looking to recruit a part time Project Officer to based in the Department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology, to alleviate administrative pressure that has arisen from the recently announced ODA cuts to an international GCRF research project (namely around revising collaboration agreements, and updating budgetary arrangements).

In addition, the Project Officer will support the PI, Dr Harriet Thomson, with wider administrative delays within a second international project, arising from COVID-19.

This post will be based within Professional Services, and will require close collaboration with College and Centrally based finance and contracts teams.

Main Duties

  • Helping to negotiate and process revised contracts with partners, and subcontractors, in coordination with the College Research Support Office, and University Contracts team
  • Collaborating with College and Central Finance Offices to allocate charges to project accounts, request invoices, and prepare financial reports to funders
  • Preparing progress reports to funders
  • Processing contingent worker forms
  • Providing other administrative support as needed
  • Knowledge :

  • Understands requirements and processes for setting up contracts and subcontracts
  • Understands how to operate complex administrative and information systems related to the management of large research programmes, drawing on prior experience
  • Understands the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace.
  • Skills & experience :

  • Experience preparing and processing contracts
  • Experience preparing progress reports to clients
  • Experience following purchasing procedures in a large organisation
  • Able to use good judgement and own initiative to diagnose and resolve problems and to provide rapid, high-quality service to clients
  • Extremely well-organised and methodical
  • Qualifications :

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent level 3 qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ, or level 3 national diploma, or relevant work experience.

    Flexible working arrangements are possible, including negotiation around the FTE allocation, up to a maximum of 0.4 FTE across the duration of the role.
