The Country Business Head manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function.

A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business.

Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual / practical grounding in both the function and / or area of expertise and related subject areas.

Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication / negotiation may be necessary.

Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s).

Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses.

Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an integral member of the functional leadership team within a country / site location, job family, or line of business.

Responsibilities :

  • The fundamental objective of this role is to manage businesses in your country. The position will also work closely with Product Management on refinement of product positioning and packaging to suit market requirements in the region.
  • Execute strategy developed by the country and regional management
  • Deliver Product Profit and Loss (P and L) (Revenue, Expense and Net Income Plan)
  • P and L and Performance Measurement
  • Manage and grow business under revenue, volume and asset dimensions
  • Training and updating of RMs and acting as go-to’ person for opportunities.
  • Represent in various senior management committees such as Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO), Country Coordinating Committee (CCC), Business Risk Compliance and Controls Committee (BRCC) and the different management forums.
  • Train and Develop people and retain talent.
  • Drive customer segmentation; product positioning, pricing and marketing plans for each client segment
  • Drive innovation within the countries for the product organization
  • Develop the inorganic growth strategy through partnerships, alliances and strategic product development to capture a greater share of trade and cash flows
  • Develop a network and payment distribution strategy, considering new and evolving channels such as, card schemes, etc.
  • Embed a culture of world-class professional product development, leveraging necessary tools.
  • Ensure that ongoing product innovation and development meets strategic and financial objectives
  • Ensure product offering is competitive in service, functionality and price
  • Meet client needs through seamless integration and packaging of products with other complementary capabilities
  • Define value proposition, positioning, and distribution channels
  • Define strategic opportunities for large-scale product partnerships / alliances with external / internal parties / vendors
  • Create and deliver an annual financial plan tied to key drivers and existing and potential customers
  • Initiate and drive transformational initiatives to optimize resources and operating model to visibly enhance product financials and profitability.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
  • Qualifications :

  • 15+ years experience
  • Proven managerial skills
  • Structuring and origination of large transactions
  • Ability to deal with large and complex matrix environment.
  • Multi-task handling
  • Analytical skills and in depth knowledge of balance sheet
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Education :

  • Bachelor’s / University degree, Master’s degree preferred
