Context :

The British Council Romania Teaching Centre teaches a range of Young Learner (early years, primary, and secondary young learner) and Adult courses.

Young learners make up approximately 75% of our student numbers. There are 5 age groups of young learners, of which the youngest are 3 years old.

  • The centre, and our Young Learner business in particular, has been growing quickly. From September 2020 the Teaching Centre team will include : Director English Language Services, Academic Manager, three Senior Teachers (ST Secondary, ST Early Years & Primary;
  • ST Adults), three coordinators and sixty teachers. There is also a large Exams department and active Projects department.

  • Also, you will :

  • Be accountable to support British Council’s global English strategy by delivering teaching to the highest standards of ELT,enhancing British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT and continuing professional development and sharing of best practice
  • Your main duties will be :

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
  • Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards.
  • Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
  • Regularly attend in-house training sessions

  • Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students’ understanding of contemporary UK
  • Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas : child protection, equal opportunity and diversity and health and safety
  • About You :

    You will need to have full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8 / 9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module +Cambridge CELTA / Trinity certificate TESOL / PGCE

    Also, the post requires :

  • 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA / Trinity cert TESOL experience
  • Experience in teaching at least two of the following age groups :
  • Early Years learners aged 3 to 5 (300+hours)
  • Young learners aged 6 to 8 (300+ hours)
  • Young learners aged 8 to 11 (300+ hours)
  • Young learners aged 12 to 14 (300+ hours)
  • Young learners aged 15 to 18 (300+ hours
  • Adult learners (300+ hours)
  • Experience with EAP , ESP courses and experience of teaching groups online will be considered a plus
