About the Role

The Team Lead will be leading the Indicator Team, which operates within the Content Leadership and Editorial Oversight Team, which is part of Sustainalytics’ ESG research division.

The team is responsible for developing new indicators and improving internal and external indicator guidance text. The candidate will support the analysts of the Indicator Team, and collaborate with Research Managers from Research teams and Change and Release Managers of the Research Transformation Team.

The candidate will support analysts (in the indicator team and / or analysts from other research teams) with the design of new indicators to support our product strategy and stimulate internal indicator guidance enhancements to achieve organization effectiveness, while developing external indicator guidance to support issuers with interpreting ESG assessments.

The Team Lead has a good understanding of ESG research processes, and of international ESG reporting initiatives like GRI or SASB and has experience with people management.

The candidate will successfully support the release of indicator proposals for new / adjusted research requirements to accelerate growth, stimulate product innovation and to improve the efficiency and quality of the research process.

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine the strategy of the Indicator Team and ensure that analysts are motivated and are developing along the career paths
  • Act as a liaison between multiple stakeholders (Sustainalytics’ Research Transformation Team, Research Managers, DIT and the Methodology Team) and ensures that all parties are aligned to achieve a coordinated and optimized outcome.
  • Build and manage the project portfolio of all indicator design / change projects. Ensure that new indicators are delivered / updated according to internal requirements (in time, against the expected quality, within budget);
  • Communicate progress on the roadmap to senior leaders in the Sustainalytics ESG research division. Stimulate a project management approach when new initiatives are undertaken and encourage the use of project management best practices and tools.

  • Define key metrics for team success, and report the status on a monthly / quarterly / annual basis; Inform senior management about risks / challenges;
  • Design and improve business processes and documentation to support the indicator design work (process description, and indicator design requirement files, SOPs, templates etc.).
  • Support analysts in the Indicator Team on a daily basis with describing the scope, scoring scheme, guidance of new / adjusted indicators.
  • Ensures all new indicator proposals are tested before submission. Reviews proposals after submission and ensures all proposals are ready for final approvers.

    Also partners and supports analysts from other research teams with designing indicators and preparing indicator guidance.

  • Organize capacity building initiatives to stimulate analysts to gain a deeper understanding of thematic topics or international reporting trends
  • Act as an ambassador for indicator change initiatives.
  • Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • 3+ years' experience in research
  • Experience in people management
  • Good project management and execution skills
  • Experience with process management
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with ease and manage competing interests
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability
  • Strong analytical skills and creative, problem-solving attitude; decisiveness
  • Meticulousness and attentiveness to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Resourceful and independent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
