The Mission :
The role of the Chapter Lead is to manage and coach the team of Core Banking specialists (Feature Engineers) working for different squads delivering Core Banking functionalities, but also act as a contributor to the success of the project in his / her squad.
This position is based in Bucharest. Part of this job may include visiting other European countries and working closely with local ING colleagues in order to gain knowledge about their banking business and IT practices.
The Chapter Lead determines the way of working for individuals in a particular area of specialisation and ensures personal development within that area.
The chapter lead spends part of his / her time as a proficient engineer and the remaining with people management (including planning, coaching and review) and facilitating the development of job maturity for his / her entire chapter.
Your day to day :
As Chapter Lead you will be responsible of :
Content delivery within a squad :
Analysis and Design : refinement of the product backlog and decomposition of product backlog items into user stories; estimation of the complexity of user stories and decomposition of user stories into sprint tasks;
the creation of designs, including solution and data models, user experience, and application architecture.
System Configuration : configuration of applications and packages and code debugging and testing
Development support : supporting developers in the coding of the user stories in the backlog.
Build and Package : configuration of build servers and workflow
Tests : creating automated functional tests for user stories; building SMOKE tests as well as building and executing (automated) functional and integration tests;
building (automated) user acceptance and production tests.
Helping engineers form the chapter to deliver content in their specific squads by :
Coaching the team : act as performance coach for the team to continuously improve their knowledge and performance.
Performance management : review and approve KPI, Orange Code and Stretch Ambitions for the chapter members.
Continuous improvement : helping the team to improve performance by learning form mistakes and also find ways to bring lessons learned by other teams to your chapter.
Stakeholder management and Wow : work with stakeholders from different squads to understand and be able to help the team set-
up their individual KPI’s and determine the way of working for the chapter.
Initiating changes to increase the team’s productivity.
Contributing in the implementation of the strategy of Core Banking Center of Excellence by :
Recruiting : you will work with HR to find and recruit the best engineers in order to complete the recruitment plan set up by the IT Area Lead.
Training : help set-up and then contribute to the Profile Academy program with specific trainings and content.
Knowledge Sharing : create or contribute in specific Profile Guilds.
In this position you should collaborate with Scrum Masters from different squads to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum within the organization and improve the velocity of the team-members.
What you bring to the team :
Minimum 5 years of experience in banking industry ; deep understanding of different bank products and work flows preferably in Core Banking system development projects
You have a keen IT market focus : you are passionate about major trends in the new way of working, including Lean IT, continuous delivery, etc.

Knowledge and experience :
University background in Computer Science / Informatics, Economy.
You have experience in an Agile organization (SCRUM , KANBAN, etc)
You have strong analytic skills.
You have worked before as a System Analyst, Business Analyst or Developer.
Experience with coaching and motivating team members
Experience in developing automated testing
Familiarity with tools like Confluence, JIRA etc.
You have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
