thyssenkrupp Elevator Corporation is seeking a Test and Qualification Cluster Partner II for its Atlanta, GA office.
This role is responsible for coordinating, managing, executing, and documenting testing of embedded system software and PC based applications.
Position has longer-term, strategic, technical planning and shorter-term project-level management and test execution responsibilities both on the global (across product development centers) and local (within the North American product development center) levels.
Position reports to the Test and Qualification Manager.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Cluster Partnership Work with the Program Manager, Chief Engineers, and Cluster Leaders to identify future testing and qualification needs to support the future planned project portfolio within ClusterBe the main point-of-contact for all Test and Qualification needs for the ClusterSupport T&Q Manager’s operational planning with cluster forecast
Project Management Schedule & moderate regular T&Q project meetingsEnsure successful execution of T&Q project tasks towards successful project schedule completionRemove roadblocks and / or escalate issues to the Test and Qualification ManagerCommunicate T&Q status and forecasting to Project Manager, T&Q Manager, and Senior Management when requiredPrepare T&Q project plan together with Cluster Lead, Program / Project Manager, and local T&Q engineers including resource needs, budget, and timelineEffectively communicate with global team members (including but not limited to South America, Asia Pacific, and Europe), taking into account cultural and communication differences
Standards and Operational Principles Prepare Global Test Plans taking into consideration the following needs : resource, equipment, tools, and processesAlign plans within global and local test and qualification networkDevelop and share Cluster-specific safety standards
Test and Qualification Operations and Execution Work with the Chief Engineers, T&Q Manager, Cluster Lead and other T&Q engineers (local and global) to create validation and qualification test plans specific to a projectConsolidate T&Q project documentationFulfill the duties of a T&Q engineer as projects need.
This includes but is not limited to : Perform tests of requirements as they are defined and document results in test reportDesigning and executing tests as described in the test planWriting test reports using Good Documentation Practices and the appropriate documentation toolsSoftware installation, configuration and upgradingTroubleshooting / maintenance on system simulatorsDevelop embedded software for use testing hardwareAssist department in troubleshooting technical problems with softwareTraining of personnel;
Engineer I and Engineering InternsRecommend innovations and improvements to methods, tools, and processesUtilize broad product knowledge in performing essential job functionsPerform other related duties and assignments as required.
What we look for
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field of study. Specific training in embedded systems preferred
Three or more years’ experience in engineering with a focus in embedded software systems or related field required.
Two or more years’ project management experience leading small to medium-sized development projects or in a testing capacity.
Demonstrated effectiveness to lead small to medium-sized teams
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to motivate others
Excellent skills in written and spoken English.
Proven ability to effectively work in a matrix organization
Experience with software life-cycle including system / software requirements, implementation, unit and integration testing.
Experience with feature / functional software testing for the validation and verification phases.
Experience with software tools for change management, bug tracking, and test software.
Basic familiarity with the Atlassian Toolchain including Confluence and Jira. Experience with Xray preferred.
Programming experience (C, C++ or C##),
Knowledge of serial communication / networking protocols and analysis equipment, knowledge of electrical components is desired.
Working knowledge of basic electrical concepts, solid state components and testing hardware
Effective written and verbal communication skills are required to be able to clearly communicate on a technical level.
Certification in Six Sigma and Project Management a plus.
Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Must have ability to analyze and organize daily activities to support the organization in a timely and efficient manner.
Possess the ability to multi-task, exercise judgment, make decisions and take action to complete tasks
