We’re looking for a Data Protection Officer to join our legal team and playing an essential role to to define and manage our global programs to address issues relating to the collection, use and protection of personal data at Telenav, particularly those relating to GDPR and CCPA.
Monitoring and reporting on compliance with GDPR, CCPA and other relevant data protection legislation, and Telenav’s data protection policies and procedures related to the same.
Overseeing Telenav’s EU representative who acts as point of contact with the relevant Data Protection Authorities.
Coordinating the development and implementation of privacy-related policies, procedures, and practices.
Responding to communications from third parties regarding the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their individual data protection rights under GDPR.
Participating in relevant working groups dealing with privacy and data processing activities.
Advising, informing, and training Telenav employees on data protection and privacy.
Negotiating and coordinating the execution of data processing agreements with customers and vendors.
Drafting, maintaining, and creating inventories of records of processing activities.
Coordinating data breach response and notification procedures with Telenav stakeholders; and
Maintaining, testing, and reporting to the Company’s senior management on Telenav’s ongoing compliance with privacy and data use requirements and safeguards.
Primary legal resource for all matters originating from the Cluj office
Provide legal support in Cluj to the European-focused activities of the Business Development Team
Managing the engagement and use of local legal counsel in Romania, which includes (in coordination with Santa Clara) : Assessing when external legal resources need to be engagedAssessing which firm is best positioned to assist with a matterDefining engagement scope and obtaining necessary budget approvalsActing as a liaison between the local counsel and Telenav stakeholders to ensure cost-effective legal support is provided
Assisting HR, Finance and Cluj management with local legal matters, which includes (in coordination with Santa Clara) : Drafting and negotiating consulting agreements for external contractorsReviewing real estate leases and related agreements pertaining to the Cluj officeAssisting with local labor matters
Providing legal support to the Engineering & Product Management teams in Cluj, which includes (in coordination with Santa Clara) : Reviewing and negotiating license agreements with third-party SW providersAssessing the inclusion of open source SW to be used by the Engineering teams and / or included in Telenav product offeringsResponding to legal requests from the teams concerning products being developed in the Cluj office
Reviewing and negotiating third-party supplier agreements with SW and data content providers
Providing legal assistance as needed to support the OEM customers
Bachelor’s Degree in laws
Relevant working experience with privacy and data protection issues.
Knowledge of data protection law and privacy practices, including familiarity with GDPR, CCPA and other data protection laws and practices.
Relevant experience in legal contract management
Ability to apply applicable data protection laws to practical real world scenarios.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to find compromise to meet business needs;
Ability to translate complex legal regulations into easily understood practical and actionable advice for business teams;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
Capable of creating comprehensive plans and driving execution of the desired result.
Self-management skills; and
Comfortable working in a global team.
