The Lead UI Artist works in collaboration with the production team reporting to the Art Director, to implement a user experience that bolsters the game's initial aesthetic / artistic vision and design (functionality), and takes into account ergonomic constraints (organization / hierarchies of information and accessibility), and the technical limitations of the target platforms, guaranteeing the quality and consistency of the UI assets throughout the game.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities :
The incumbent will lead the local UI / UX team and work closely with the Art Director and Design teams to ensure the highest quality UI graphics, defining the look and feel of the menus of the game while paying special attention to the quality of the User experience.
Will be responsible for designing and implementing menu and user-interface / HUD systems that are visually attractive, intuitive, efficient, and that meet design needs and are aligned with the established visual identity.
Designing early elements during pre-production : graphics research and development, dummies / wireframes, prototypes (appearance, functionality, maneuverability ).
Creating user flows, wireframes and UI assets along withal required documentation.
Writing and updating UI / UX guidelines & documentation.
Ensuring visual compositions are consistently clipped and ensuring with the technical team that they are properly integrated.
Helping the Marketing team, depending on their needs (web designs; banners, carousels, animations for various platforms / stores;
welcome screens and / or cross-promotional materials, etc.)
Managing a team while factoring in time and available resources
Performing the performance evaluations of the UI / UX team.
Providing guidance and training to team members.
Assisting in the recruitment process by reviewing applicant resumes, completed tests and will also be involved in the interview process.
At least 3+ years of experience in UI / UX design.
At least 2+ years of experience as a Lead or as UI / UX Manager.
Solid educational background : typography, layout / structure, information architecture, grids, hierarchy, pattern, colour, composition, movement, etc.
Strong understanding and passion for the importance of design thinking & interest in emotional design. Clear and strong understanding of the importance of user-centered design.
Broad knowledge of the visual designs and interest in recent innovation within the field (games on all platforms and of all genres, graphic animations, etc.)
Great attention to detail, and an excellent understanding of ergonomic constraints.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Excellent English communication skills - written and verbal.
Ability to give and take constructive feedback from team members, clients, stakeholders, and capable of interpreting feedback into design solutions.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams.
Good analytical skills and judgement related to problem solving.
Expert level in Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud - Photoshop, Illustrator.
Proficient in design and prototyping tools such as XD, Invision is a plus .
Basic knowledge / understanding of various 3D production or presentation packages (SketchUp, 3ds Max, C4D, Marmoset, etc.) is a plus .
Mastery of UI / UX interaction and design principles and deliverables including rapid prototyping, concept diagrams, user scenarios, wireframes, flows, experience maps, and design patterns.
Has an keen eye for details - layout, design consistencies, alignments, spacing, etc.
Up to date with latest industry trends and technologies
