Assist and support the EU Systems and Software (SYSS) Project Procurement organization with legal and contractual matters with a strong focus on procurement.

This position works directly with the Project Procurement Contracts Specialist and is responsible for assisting the draft and negotiation of Third-party Supplier’s agreements and other contractually required commercial instruments, in support of the EU SYSS - Project Procurement organization, throughout the pursuit and execution phases of the project procurement processes.

Assist and support the Europe Law Department in a wide range of legal issues throughout Europe.

  • Provide advice and support on commercial and contractual instruments with a strong focus on project procurement issues including :
  • Review, respond to and negotiate contract conditions (standard contract conditions and model form agreements);
  • Review and route for approval Non-Disclosure Agreements;
  • Provide input to procurement, project management on subcontracting strategies and forms and assist in producing and negotiating standard (sub)contracts;
  • Provide input to management and obtain necessary approvals regarding contractual risk areas identified;
  • Provide input to the development of contracts and commercial policies and processes;
  • Maintain, implement and follow up on relevant procedures;
  • Ensure proper storage of all contracts and commercial documents within the Project Procurement contracts database and archives
  • Research information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports.
  • Execute and communicate contract summary documents to project teams that outline commercial and project specific requirements of executed agreements.
  • Ensure compliance to Emerson Retention Policy related to Procurement related rules, at all times.
  • Cultivate, interface and maintain professional and value added relationship with Systems and Software management, legal (regional and local), sales contracting, project management, proposal teams, and project procurement staff.
  • Support the law department with the organization of training sessions in different legal fields such as general terms and conditions, contract negotiation, export law issues, compliance, anti-corruption etc.;
  • Support the Europe Law Department in strategic projects, in various areas.

  • Graduated student or Law Degree Faculty of Law
  • Minimum work experience in a commercial and international field (in-house or in private practice)
  • Fluent spoken and written English language skills. Other European language abilities (German / French / Spanish) highly desirable but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
  • Good team player
  • Service oriented, self-motivated and result oriented work style
  • Ability to interface effectively with management, lawyers, other professionals and with customers / suppliers
  • Good presentation skills.
