In this role, you will work on a team of highly skilled Systems Engineers responsible for maintaining and improving back-
end corporate systems. This includes the definition and enforcement of standards, security, sustainability / scalability, deployment, and operations of Amazon's current and next generation systems.
We are looking for a Systems Engineer based in Bucharest to :
Support the world’s largest Exchange instance
Have end-to-end ownership of major engineering projects
Build and deploy systems to multiple global regions
Monitor and maintain performance & capacity at Amazon’s office installations to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime
Work closely with our automation teams to assist in defining the tools we require
Work closely with our internal customers to help alleviate their problems and meet their demands
Work with vendors and cross-functional teams for on-going design efforts and systems support
Work with a wide range of technologies

On a typical day, Systems Engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with the top Engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues.
You will be part of a strong team of Systems and Network Engineers working in a massive, fast-paced, and distributed environment, spanning numerous sites, multiple countries, and a large customer base.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and 3+ years of work experience, or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 1+ year of work experience
3+ years of Exchange administration experience
3+ years of Systems Engineering / Administration experience in a large, distributed environment focusing on automation
3+ years of experience with the Linux operating system and its operation in a large scale production environment
Experience with system and application monitoring, software distribution, patching and maintenance
Proficient in verbal and written communication, and technical documentation (English required, local dialects a plus)
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Robust troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to work with flexible work schedules (weekends and / or evenings when required) and travel as required
Strong sense of ownership and urgency
Experience with FireEye and IronPort devices
Practical scripting experience with Python or Powershell
Advanced degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline
Experience with AWS technologies and services including industry certification (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, AWS SysOps Admin)
Experience working in a fast-paced DevOps environment (familiarity with DevOps concepts and lifecycle)
Strong Windows or Linux debugging and systems analysis skills to be able to identify and quickly resolve / mitigate issues
Exposure to massive-scaled distributed systems
Experience in a 24x7 production environment
Experience with mission critical systems
Ability to track the health of our services, identify and fix problems on complex systems with massive scale
