The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has forced more than 5 million people - mostly women and children - to flee to neighbouring countries.
With the escalating crisis, the needs are growing by the hour. More than half of Ukraine's children have either fled for safety within the country or are living as refugees.
Since the conflict started, our teams have been on the ground assessing and responding to the urgent needs of those searching for safety.
We are currently scaling up our multi-country response across three countries (Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine) and are recruiting for many key positions that will make a direct impact on the lives of people who have been caught up in conflict.
HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN :
As the Faith in Humanitarian Action Advisor, you will provide leadership for Faith and Development (F&D) integration in all Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR)-related initiatives.
You will lead and / or provide guidance to all F&D contributions in policy, programming, workstreams, collaboration and evidence building.
You will lead in building and maintaining collaboration and partnerships with critical stakeholders, e.g. churches, faith-based organizations, faith actors, etc.
You will also provide biblical insights, narrative and advice in fragile context undertaking and ensure that all F&D programming engagement in UCR contributes to holistic child well-being.
Set Faith and Development (F&D) Strategic Priorities in Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR) Programs
Within the context of the Partnership strategy drive role of F&D as a key contributor to holistic Child Well-being (CWB) in UCR
Work with relevant regional leaders, National Directors and F&D regional and National staff to define F&D local, national and regional priorities and appropriate approaches to operationalize F&D strategic priorities and contribution.
Work with and provide inputs to global technical sectors to ensure F&D integration in the development and mainstreaming of evidence-based program approaches, project models, intervention packages, guidance, capacity building and learning resources for use in fragile contexts ensuring holistic development for children specifically their spiritual nurture and development.
Lead in the discernment and development of biblical narrative, insights, and guidance on fragile context ensuring that critical theological issues are addressed e.
g. pain and suffering. Lead the process of integrating spiritual root causes analysis as well as development and / or dissemination of related tools and guidance.
Develop and / or adapt practical and actionable guidance for F&D in fragile context (including global minimum standards and Montoring & Evaluation tools)
Ensures F&D in fragile context learning and innovation are documented and communicated
With F&D internal facing, build organizational capacity for F&D integration and impact in UCR.
Collaborate with Evidence & Learning (E&L) to strengthen data monitoring and evaluation (DM&E) in UCR and apply learning to F&D as appropriate.
Identify and capture best practices related to faith & faith actors and their key role in addressing children’s vulnerabilities in UCR.
Use these identified practices to develop resources responding to high demand for evidence-based approaches in UCR.
Document, organize and share best practices in addressing key vulnerabilities and use them to enrich existing programming and M&E tools.
Work with Sector Grant Specialists in utilizing grants and documenting innovations happening in UCR for future donor communications and grant proposals.
Cross-sector F&D Integration
Champion cross-sector collaboration for F&D integration with sectors and Disaster Management, development and advocacy in UCR.
Ensure F&D in fragile contexts is effective, agile, and fit for purpose, incorporating the best and innovative practices from both humanitarian / DM and development experiences Identifies, explores and acts on improvement opportunities
Keep abreast of latest developments and innovations in the Faith and church and other faith actors’ engagement in UCR that is relevant to World Vision and share them internally.
Lead collaboration and development / maintenance of partnerships / relationships with churches, faith-based organizations, and faith actors for Child Well-Being.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a relevant academic field (international development, disaster management, relief and development, child development and psychology, community development, etc.
or 5-7 years of equivalent experience in the field.
5-7 years’ experience in / with faith, faith actors and faith related issues in humanitarian and development programming in field location.
5-7 years’ experience and demonstrated understanding of other faith communities, the complexity of working as a Christian NGO within interfaith contexts, relationships with the faith and development arena, major players, and joint work towards the sustainable development goals.
Extensive experience and proven results in overseeing or supporting multi-country programmes in Fragile Contexts.
Proven experience with grant-funded programmes and managing donor relationships.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in culturally and religiously diverse environments.
A team player with proven effectiveness working collaboratively with others and developing partnerships both internally and externally.
Clarity in conceptual thinking and communication including critical thinking skills and the ability to challenge the status quo.
Excellent communication skills in writing and producing clear, concise and appealing documents.
High degree of flexibility & adaptability when working in a constantly changing environment with a high level of ambiguity.
Exemplary personal Christian commitment, vibrant spirituality, and Christ-centered life and work.
In-depth knowledge of Faith and Development programming in fragile contexts and disaster management and emergency.
Clear understanding and endorsement of Our Promise, World Vision's global strategy, and ability to lead F&D work in Fragile Contexts in light of the strategy.
Strong ability to effectively and sensitively persuade, motivate and work together with stakeholders in intercultural settings and at all levels of an organisation
Self-starter with strong time management, coordination, prioritization, multi-tasking skills.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual candidates (especially with the knowledge of Romania, Ukrainian ) are preferred.
Emergency / disaster preparedness training completed and maintained
TRAVEL AND / OR WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENT
The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
