TEMPORARY(Up to 2 years maximum)
The legal function is a key strategic partner for business growth and development. Through a pro-active approach based on partnership, the legal function anticipates legal and regulatory issues and creates business opportunities by capitalising on the existing Romanian and European legal framework.
It adds a legal perspective to both the day-to-day business and long term strategies, thereby enhancing the potential to meet and exceed business goals in line with Pfizer Romania’s overall vision, mission and strategies.
In addition, as part of the European Legal Structure, participation in regional or cluster meetings / initiatives is expected.
This involves :
providing legal advice,
anticipating and preventing problems,
enhancing legal security,
managing and monitoring compliance with Romanian body of law,
protecting assets and contributing to risk management,
ensuring compliance with group policies,
managing litigation, and
managing the use of outside counsel.
Identify and integrate overall vision, mission and strategies of Pfizer Romania;
Identify and analyze NYHQ directives in legal, contractual and business ethics matters;
Analyze possible legal implications of business strategies and tactics.
Track the evolution of legislation and jurisprudence in Romania as it impacts Romania and the pharmaceutical industry generally;
Proactively participate in legal affairs working groups and commissions of industry groups in order to identify and influence legislative projects.
Analyze all aspects of business, operating environment and corporate values;
Proactively contribute to the development of vision, mission and overall strategy of Pfizer Romania.
Define legal strategy in the following areas in order to meet / exceed business goals :
Participate up-front in any project or activity of Pfizer Romania having a business critical legal impact
Prioritize own activity portfolio with regard to business impact
Build awareness on legal issues at all levels of the business. Sensitize all colleagues regarding proactive risk prevention. Support by e.g.
Seminars / discussion forums for staff;
Review / implement standard procedures covering key legal issues.
Advise and support all departments in legal aspects of their activities, especially commercial contracts, sales, licensing, acquisition and sales of activities, medical and social legislation, good commercial practices, patents and trademarks
Implement and keep up-to-date procedures / resources supporting day-to-day management of Legal Affairs, i.e.
Manage instruction of outside counsel;
Contract management ;
Develop cost control mechanisms;
Ensure control of proper implementation of corporate policies and procedures e.g. inventory policies and competition compliance;
Monitoring promotional material from a legal and business ethics point of view;
Defend the interests of the company in all matters in dispute and litigation;
Represent company at associations.
Ensure the consistency of the department’s structure, manning, processes and resources with the current and future strategic requirements;
Identify development opportunities and priorities i.e. effective knowledge management, service level agreements with internal partners, streamlined information flow and dispatching using IT-leverage;
Ensure clear and dynamic interactions and processes with all internal partners;
Ensure a strong positioning of the Legal Affairs in order to ensure its recognition as a key contributor to the accomplishment of the overall vision and mission.
Ensure consistency of the department’s human resources in terms of headcount, competency development and motivation with the current and future strategic requirements;
Ensure appropriate competency development of colleagues in line with required skills, knowledge and attitude and agreed learning objectives;
Identify career development ambitions and potential and orient them with regard to medium and long term opportunities within and outside the department;
Build a team inspired by mutual support and positive leadership;

Ensure departmental contribution to the overall Strategic Plan and consistency of the individual / team contribution through specific objectives and performance;
Set and negotiate objectives with each team member including team objectives in line with overall vision and mission, Legal Affairs’ and internal customers' objectives taking into account synergetic effects;
Allocate obtained resources in line with agreed objectives;
Follow up implementation of the working plans via regular team meetings and proactively provide support as appropriate;
Review objectives and reallocate resources if necessary;
Appraise individual and team performance with regard to agreed objectives;
Develop, maintain and update own knowledge, skills and professional expertise.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
University Decree in Law,
4-7 years of experience in a similar position, experience in pharmaceutical environment would be an important asset.
Fluent Romanian and English;
Thorough knowledge of commercial legislation and medical law in Romania;
