Main Tasks / Responsibilties

  • Definition of standards for the cloud and on-premise platforms, components and systems
  • Advises departments and projects in the selection of infrastructure services, architectures and ensures their provision and usability
  • Definition and conception of standards in the areas of cloud, virtualization, containers and container orchestration systems, including an associated shared responsibility model
  • Ensuring and implementing security and connectivity requirements
  • Buildup and further development of infrastructure as code components (e.g. for AWS services, Kubernetes, container solutions)
  • Development and definition of the architectural specifications for platforms, components and systems based on the business strategy
  • Advice and support for departments in the introduction and use of cloud services
  • Active involvement of the specialist area and lobbying in national forums (user groups, forums, conferences, standardization committees) as well as the active initiation of international exchange with other Vodafone Opcos
  • Assessment and approval of infrastructure solutions for projects
  • Evaluation of new technology trends, preparation of information for AL, GL, introduction of new technologies into the company including strategic and technical coordination with partners and suppliers inside and outside the VF and development of the corresponding pilot models
  • Consulting for strategic inquiries from departments (e.g. for security, GDC, cloud vs. on- premise)
  • Active representation of the area in Vodafone architecture & project boards
  • Controlling cloud costs and developing measures for continuous cost reduction
  • Definition and development of generic and / or applicationsspecific deployment pipelines to reduce downtimes and raise production stability
  • Consulting and Supporting of customers and suppliers in introducing and usage of CI / CD processes and tools
  • Interfaces / Communication

  • Completed technical or industrial engineering degree or longitme experience in the field of IT infrastructure and data center, IT operation, IT engineering
  • Practical experience in the field of public cloud solutions, setting up and managing infrastructure as code (e.g. at AWS Services, Kubernetes, container solutions (Docker)) >
  • 3 years

  • Safe handling in the area of automation and configuration management of infrastructure and software deployments (Jenkins, groovy, Nexus, Bitbucket, Ansible, etc.) >
  • 3 years

  • Several years of professional experience in IT, preferably in IT operations, IT consulting or IT architecture >
  • 5 years

  • Good technical knowledge of the technologies and products used in large, heterogeneous IT infrastructures and the services they provide
  • Good knowledge of server and client hardware, operating systems, databases and standard applications (ERP, CRM, billing)
  • Pronounced analytical, solution-oriented and entrepreneurial thinking and acting as well as pronounced technical know-how in the field of application
  • Good technical knowledge of the following products in large heterogeneous IT infrastructures (Microsoft product range, Linux, HP, Oracle, VMWare, Citrix, networks, firewalls, etc.
  • and central IT infrastructures such as Storage, backup, SAN, Antivir, software distribution, monitoring

    Knowledge / skills

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Experience in intercultural communication
  • Experience in negotiations and in dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Knowledge of IT architectures and IT service management processes (ITIL) and business processes (PPM, internal ordering and communication processes, etc.)
  • High resilience and experience in crisis management for the subject-related topics
  • Knowledge of dealing with complex technical issues and for solving problems as well as preparing information for the addressees
  • Professional curiosity about new methods, tools and trends with "self-starter mentality" and high intrinsic motivation to work on new topics and projects
  • Independent customer and service-oriented way of working, diplomatic skills, high stress resistance and above-average commitment, paired with pronounced communicative and rhetorical skills as well as determination and responsibility
