An opportunity has arisen for a (Junior) Account Manager 8 / 9 ( Associate Operations Specialist) to join Trade Support (Global Desk) of the Financial Institutions Transactions Services Trade Finance Services Team (FI TFS) in Amsterdam.

FI TFS is part of ING Commercial Banking, Financial Institutions. The Transaction Services Sales team ( TS Sales ) in Amsterdam, has a leading position in providing risk mitigation and financing of international trade.

Our counterparties are for the majority foreign banks, and ultimate clients are exporting and importing corporate clients of ING Bank.

Key words for our department are diversity, accuracy mixed with creativity, and complexity; making this an environment particularly suited for internationally minded team players with organizational skills, eye for detail and entrepreneurial / commercial drive combined with an ability to perform under tight deadlines.

Working in the front office and with a team of dedicated professionals, the Account Management team is involved in the processing, approving, structuring and monitoring of trade financing transactions.

Whereas Regional Account Management is assigned to a specific region and focusses more on supporting the sales efforts, Global Desk services all regions on a broader / supportive scale.

The position involves close collaboration with FI TFS Sales and frequent (phone) contact with internal clients like, Corporate Client Consultants and internal support functions such as Risk Management, Compliance and Operations (Client Service Delivery).

Responsibilities :

Processing / pricing of the trade transactions

  • Handles flow trade transactions for all regions presented for approval to FI TFS within the approved limits. Is responsible for certain aspects of the transaction handling, such as the approval and the administrative settlement after closing.
  • Checks whether transactions comply with certain parameters such as available limits, tenor and structure. If the transaction falls outside this scope, arranges limit allocations, excess approvals, compliance waivers, risk mitigation etc.
  • and monitors proper and timely processing.

  • Supports FI TFS Sales in all aspects of the preparation and execution of transactions and / or specific projects, limit reviews, credit proposals, e.
  • g. handles independently certain designated aspects of the proposals.

  • Advises ING offices (domestic and abroad) about pricing, risk appetite and structures related to trade finance and ensures that all questions are handled adequately and timely, reverting to the relevant specialist if necessary.
  • Cooperation with Portfolio Management Desk (PMD). In order to mitigate risk you will need to involve PMD which handles risk distribution and sources credit risk insurance.
  • FI TFS Sales support

  • Provides assistance to FI TFS Sales in marketing efforts and assists with the preparation for visits.
  • Miscellaneous

  • Assists in improving data quality on both risk and income figures with regard to the FI TFS portfolio. Investigates questions with regard to e.
  • g. limit management and the correct booking of individual transactions. Is pro-active in suggesting and implementing measures to improve quality of figures and processes.

  • Actively engages in various projects / initiatives aimed at improving day-to-day working environment, automation (RPA / AI), etc.

    Preferred candidate :

  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial / commercial, professional with minimum Bachelor degree (HBO) education
  • Experience in Financial Institutions and / or general banking is a plus
  • Experience with credit approval processes is a plus
  • Familiarity with trade finance products such as letters of credit, guarantees and trade loans is a plus.
  • Preferably 3 years working experience
  • Organizational and analytical skills;
  • High level of self-motivation and professional approach;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong team player;
  • Fluent in English both verbally and written; other foreign language skills are a plus
  • The ambition to grow into more senior roles in e.g. Sales, Relationship Management etc.
