The SupplierDevelopment Engineer (SDE) is responsible for improving Supplier Performance toa new standard; this includes, NPI Launches, Supplier Resourcing, SupplierConsolidations, Supplier Audits, Supplier Continuous Improvement activities oncurrent production and new product introductions.
Drive Top Supplier FocusMeetings focused on fixing and / or eliminating Suppliers causing Operations thegreatest problems through systematic, data driven processes that ensurescorrective actions are in place through documented Supplier Quality ImprovementPlans.
Interface withOperations, Quality, Production Planning, Category Managers, Project Managers,and Engineering for the development and release of Best-in-Class Suppliers thatsupport Commodity Strategies
Assess new andexisting supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity andfulfillment ensuring suppliers are able to meet delivery of components andrequirements for production quality and other applicable customer and internalsystem requirements
Driveimprovements utilizing Lean methodologies and observations at supplier’sfacility on part flow, bottlenecks identification, process gaps, driving riskmitigation and closure
Act as consultantto communicate and coach the Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering andprocurement organizations to drive cost effective improvements to Quality andManufacturing processes, minimizing waste, introduce new products and improveproduct design
Track thesupplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, tofacilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceeddefined expectations
Communicate performance metric expectations tocurrent and potential suppliers
Develop and manage strong strategicrelationships with our key suppliers and business partners to reduce cost,compress project lifecycles, proactive risk management, advance quality animprove capital efficiencies
Support the procurement initiative ontransforming supplier base (rationalization, re-sourcing) with supplierassessment and development in line with risk management, cyber threats, cost,quality, delivery and proactive tooling management / tracking
Lead and support efforts tofully realize cost savings opportunities
Help maximize Design for Manufacturability byleveraging Supplier knowledge and capabilities through Supplier involvement inproduct and production design
Provide key input to Supply Base ManagementCategory Strategies and supplier performance reviews
Responsible for monitoring NPI launchreadiness to ensure the quality and timeliness of suppler products prior to andafter start of production
Travel to Supplier Locations as Necessary to Mitigate / ResolveSupply Issues and Risks, Monitor Production Line or Production Start Ups,Capacity Assessments, Risk Assessments, Tooling Launches, PerformAudits / Assessments, and / or Drive Supply Continuity Improvements
Outsourcing Project Management Ensure VisualStandards, Technical, Labor Hours, Internal Quality Requirements Are Documentedand Transferred, Existing Processes Are Understood and Transferred, Supplier Processes are Updated and KeptAccurate, and Facilitate Changes Between the Business and the Supplier, E2ESupplier Excellence
Tooling Risk Mitigation Through Proactive LifeExpectancy Management and Refurbishment / Replacement, Asset Management andTracking, CAPEX Planning and Execution, and Manage Tooling Transfers / Readinesswith New and Existing Suppliers.
Be an expert on supplierquality tools - lead the roll out, training and implementation of supplierquality tools for suppliers, including alignment with INT / HOS requirements.
Assist / Leads SQE in the issueresolution and root-cause analysis processes associated with supplier quality.
Drive RCCA’s on Supplier Caused DisruptionsEnsuring Continuous Improvement and Risk Management
Key Executional Supporting Role on SupplierVMI Operations Ensuring Stable Supply, Risk Management, Stock Rotations, Seamless New VMI Integrations, and Both Operational and Supplier Excellence onVMI Programs
BA in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
around 3 years’ experience in Supplier Development or related discipline required
around 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, process, quality systems and root cause analysis experience required
Experience with ISO standards and supplier quality auditing.
Background in lean six sigma and statistical process control, capability analysis
Understanding of Commercialization, APQP and PPAP processes.
Good engineering understanding on Mechanical commodity (Stampings)
Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

Knowledgeable and hands on experience in application of Lean and Six Sigma (or alternative advanced problem solving methods) including : Value Stream Mapping, Cpk / Ppk, GR&R, SPC, Control Plans Sampling Plans, Kaizen, 5S, Statistical Analysis, SMED, 5Why's, Root Cause Analysis, Error Proofing, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Pareto Analysis,
Demonstrated experience in Supplier Audits and Selection
Strong manufacturing, process, quality systems and root cause analysis experience
Solid interpersonal communication skills needed to communicate to all levels and with leaders at Supplier organizations
