world environment? The Global IT Engineering Team at Amazon is looking for Manager with our GIT Network team. In partnership with your engineering counterparts you will work to make our network more capable, scalable, reliable and efficient.

Responsibilities include :

  • Lead a team of globally distributed network engineers supporting Amazon’s corporate network infrastructure.
  • Continually evolve monitoring and alerting to proactively address the performance of Amazon's network infrastructure to ensure we deliver the highest quality customer experience.
  • Partner with Engineering, Corporate Infrastructure Builds, and Local IT to ensure consistent delivery of network changes.
  • Identify opportunities and drive automation within the network operations to scale.
  • Develop repeatable processes and playbooks within network operations to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Effectively define, analyze, and evolve key performance metrics to measure engineer and team performance and drive service improvements.
  • Collaborate with customers and partners to bring new services into production.
  • Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapt quickly to new information, and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Oversee network incidents ensuring customer impact is minimized.
  • Some travel to meet with remote staff and customers
  • Pro-actively identify resource needs, participate in recruiting efforts, and hiring to grow the team.
  • Exhibit ownership of escalations ensuring consistent communication occurs and issues are driven to resolution and validated.
  • Responsible for people management of a team of engineers, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth.
  • Identify, cultivate and grow technical leaders
  • Our ideal candidate is customer focused, detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and has a track record of supporting networks while building automation and tools.

    Extensive experience operationally supporting large scale networks is a necessity. The candidate must be able to interact with individuals across the organization including the team, peers, leadership, and customers at a global scale.

  • BA / BS in an engineering or relevant experience.
  • 5+ years managing large-scale network operations at an enterprise scale
  • 5+ years of experience working with networking protocols including TCP / IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify root cause of issues
  • Broad understanding of Incident, Problem, and Change Management practices
  • The ability to think at scale and automate processes
  • Experience dealing well with customers during problem resolution and operating under pressure.
  • Experience automating device configuration and management preferred
  • Experience working with carriers to provision, install, and operate both voice and data networks
  • Experience overseeing new office builds, moves, and decommissions
