Head of Credit Strategy

We want to hire a highly technical Head of Credit Strategy to take responsibility for developing credit risk strategies and models that deliver loss mitigation and business profitability.
Previous experience in building credit strategies is not a must - this could be ideal for someone with modelling experience / a data science background who would like to apply their experience in a business setting.
This role will report into the Chief Credit Officer and will work closely with the product, technology and underwriting teams to develop a best-in-class strategy for the business.
Our Head of Credit Strategy will own the following areas : Credit Risk scorecards / machine learning models, acquisition strategy and portfolio performance / analytics.
You’ll be expected to :
Apply advanced statistical / machine learning techniques on standard and non-standard data sources to build best-in-class credit risk models and strategies - we are building products that are not industry standard and therefore you will be expected to understand the broader product goals, identify appropropriate data sources and then test and learn different approaches to credit strategy / modelling
Work closely with data-engineers and product teams to implement credit models and automate credit decisioning
Work closely with the commercial teams to ensure credit risk requirements are considered while building new propositions and introducing new channels / segments
Model customer profitability to optimise pricing strategies
Build and improve tracking of business performance to enable identification and monitoring of current and emerging risks and incorporate learnings to improve credit strategies
Educated to a degree level or above in a STEM discipline - solid grounding in statistics / data science disciplines a must
Hands-on statistical / machine learning modelling experience - you should have built and implemented models in a data-rich environment
Very strong technical skills having utilised Python / R and SQL on a daily basis - you will be writing your own codes and supervising analysts on a daily basis
Exceptionally strong hands-on analytical skills and an ability to think from first principles - we are looking for confident technicians who have sound grounding in data science and are not afraid to tackle new problems and try new and unproven approaches to solving problems
Robust understanding of credit risk strategy development processes a must - hands on experience a plus
Confident communicator, with demonstrable experience of having delivered insight and strategy to a variety of both technical and non-technical stakeholders
